[What you will be working on] 

The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board designs and administers national examinations - PSLE, GCE N/O/A-Levels, and more, that shape the educational journey of hundreds of thousands of students every year.

The vision is to build a unified and adaptive digital ecosystem that seamlessly connects exam administration, electronic examinations and marking - enabling SEAB to leverage technology and innovation to deliver trusted, future-ready assessments with greater operational efficiency, resilience and smoother user experiences to meet Singapore's evolving assessment needs.

• Write clear, unambiguous technical specifications that serve as effective context for junior engineers and AI-tools

• Design and deliver features that span services or components, considering modularity, scalability, and resiliency

• Incorporate security, compliance, and performance as design constraints from the outset

• Author technical design documents for moderately complex features and conduct architecture reviews, providing actionable feedback

• Lead incident triage and debugging for production issues, drive post-incident reviews with concrete root cause analysis and preventive actions

[What we are looking for] 

Requirements

• Deep experience in Java 17+ with strong OOP, concurrency, and performance tuning fundamentals
• Deep experience with Spring related technologies Spring Boot 3.x / Spring Cloud / Spring Security (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC authentication flows, JWT token management)
• Deep experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway
• Experience in design and operation of event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
• Experience architecting applications in one or more cloud-native environments such as AWS (preferred), GCP or Azure
• Experience in microservice architecture at scale and related patterns e.g. circuit breakers, bulkheads, retry)

Good to Have

• Experience with Spring Batch or Quartz Scheduler, or equivalent job orchestration
• Experience with Redis for caching strategies, session management, distributed locking
• Experience in Elasticsearch for efficient querying / index designing
• Experience in Government / regulated industries - compliance-driven development, national identity system integrations
