Senior Tax Analyst, EMEA Foreign Reporting & Compliance

Key job responsibilities
Working within the EMEA Foreign Reporting & Compliance team, the Senior Tax Analyst will:
- Prepare and review foreign income tax returns, tax filings, and supporting work papers for EMEA legal entities
- Prepare and review foreign income tax provisions under IFRS and/or Local GAAP
- Prepare and review estimated tax payments and local income tax payments
- Support income tax accounting and reporting under US GAAP for SEC reporting purposes
- Support international tax controversy teams during tax audits and authority correspondence
- Partner with Accounting, Transfer Pricing, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely tax reporting
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across the tax reporting and compliance lifecycle, including the use of Artificial Intelligence
- Support regular reporting of key metrics to Management
- Participate in special projects, including tax due diligence and integration support for M&A

The Amazon Tax department is a fast-paced, collaborative, high-ownership environment. The EMEA Foreign Reporting & Compliance team manages the worldwide tax-related filings and local tax reporting compliance of Amazon's foreign entities — a portfolio growing in scale and complexity as the business expands across the region.
- We pair deep tax technical expertise with a strong focus on process improvement and automation, including AI, to modernize tax compliance
- Team members collaborate closely with Accounting, Legal, and Transfer Pricing across multiple countries
- Our Teammembers own their portfolio of entities and jurisdictions from day one — good ideas get implemented here, not just discussed
Basic qualifications
- Knowledge of strong understanding of tax compliance principles, regulations, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
- Experience a direct tax role in a multinational and/or professional organization
- Speak, write, and read fluently in German and English at C1 level or above
Preferred qualifications
- Experience liaising with tax authorities including responding to audits and information requests
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
- Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in tax (e.g., Steuerberater) or a related field
- Experience with German corporate income tax (Körperschaftsteuer) and trade tax (Gewerbesteuer) compliance and reporting
- Experience with German tax filing software (e.g., DATEV, DefTax) and e-Bilanz submission processes
- Familiarity with income tax provisions under IFRS and/or Local GAAP (HGB), and exposure to US GAAP income tax reporting for SEC purposes
- Strong computer skills including MS Office; experience with tax technology, automation tools, or AI-driven process improvement
