The Amazon Quick team is looking for an exceptional Software Development Engineer for a strategic new initiative. Amazon Quick is a generative AI–powered assistant that can answer questions, provide summaries, generate content, and securely complete tasks based on data and information in your enterprise systems. It empowers employees to be more creative, data-driven, efficient, prepared, and productive. This is an exciting opportunity to innovate, work backwards from our customers, and be at the forefront of generative-AI powered innovation. We are looking for an outstanding software development engineer that has experience delivering, complex and scalable new capabilities. The candidate must have a track record for successfully delivering new features and innovating and supporting new product architectures and business models. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced start-up like environment and be passionate about solving complicated problems with elegant, simple solutions.

Responsibilities:
1. Own the design and hands-on development of significant architecture, frameworks, and components.
2. You will leverage your full-stack development experience to oversee the entire lifecycle of feature deliverables and influence the tech stack and testing strategy. Your hands-on expertise will be invaluable in guiding the team's technical decisions and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
3. You will champion agile methodologies and DevOps practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automated testing, operational excellence and efficient software delivery and release.
4. This role is highly visible and involves working closely with the UX team, science, and product partners. Effective collaboration and communication skills are essential in this role.
5. Code and test system components; participate in code and design reviews. Demonstrate ownership of end-to-end code quality, system tests, functional tests, and integration.

Basic qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
