Just Walk Out builds technology enables a new kind of stores with no lines and no checkout—you just grab and go! Customers simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take what they want from our selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and go!

Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by our Just Walk Out Technology, which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store. Shortly after, we’ll charge your Amazon account and send you a receipt. Our Just Walk Out Technology uses a variety of technologies including vision, sensor fusion, and advanced machine learning. Innovation is part of our DNA! As a Software Development Manager, you will own delivery of cross functional initiatives to build new features and improve Just Walk Out experience. You will manage a team of 6-10 software development engineers to build and enhance the shopping experience in Just Walk out stores.

You’ll be chartered with building software that deliver critical capabilities to our AWS Just Walk out business enabling bar raising customer experience, embed operational knowledge and encode best practices into everything we do.

Beyond a strong engineering, data storage/modeling, visualization, and front-end background, a successful candidate will have experience successfully leading teams, developing people, and building a scalable infrastructure. About the team
Just Walk Out (JWO) is an AWS technology that eliminates checkout lines using computer vision, sensors, & AI. JWO operates across multiple countries, spanning stadiums, airports, college campuses, & Amazon fulfillment centers. We run multiple business models - including vision-based stores & RFID checkout - & we're growing fast. As we scale into new markets & verticals, we're deploying LLMs for shopper support, building AI agents that can operate autonomously, & re-architecting our platform to serve multiple businesses across countries with varying tax, privacy, & regulatory requirements.

Basic qualifications

- 2+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
