Software Engineer - Embedded Linux Operating Systems
AI in this role
Develop custom embedded Linux operating systems and platform software powering onboard AI autonomy workloads for Robotaxis.
Zoox's Robot Software Infrastructure team is seeking a passionate software engineer to help develop and advance the common performant operating system that powers several devices on our Robotaxi including onboard AI systems running Autonomy software. This team develops platform-level software and services, including custom operating systems that enable complex, hardware-accelerated workloads critical for autonomous driving on automotive-grade hardware.
We work closely with cross-functional teams—including other software developers, hardware engineering, release management, manufacturing and operations—to support vehicle development and deployment at scale. If you are excited to explore a broad problem space and are mindful of how components fit within a larger system, you may be a great fit!

Adapt your resume
- List these exact terms on your resume: Embedded Systems, Operating Systems, C, Autonomous Vehicles, and Hardware Acceleration. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
- Show where AI is part of your daily process, not a one-off project — this role expects it to be a running habit.
