AI in this role
CS Group Canada, a subsidiary of CS Group (part of the Sopra Steria Group), is a leader in the development and certification of safety-critical systems in the aerospace, electric, and autonomous driving industries.
Joining CS Group Canada means taking part in complex, high-tech projects for some of the most prestigious system manufacturers in North America, while benefiting from competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and flexible work arrangements.
We are seeking a Software Safety Engineer with expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), and software safety engineering to support an initiative focused on accelerating Software Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (SW-FMEA).
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a two-phase dynamic safety architecture: automating the generation of unbiased SW-FMEAs from software architecture specifications and continuously validating safety controls directly within source code through modern CI/CD pipelines.
This is a 2-month contract aimed at modernizing software safety analysis processes, improving coverage, and significantly reducing analysis time as part of the ZHAP improvement initiative.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop LLM- and RAG-based solutions to automate SW-FMEA generation from software architectures, SysML specifications, and safety documentation.
- Develop automated C/C++ code inspection tools using LLMs and AST parsers to identify failure prevention and detection mechanisms.
- Ensure traceability between SW-FMEA analyses and safety mechanisms identified in source code.
- Implement automated CI/CD pipeline checks to detect code changes that could compromise critical safety mechanisms.
- Integrate analysis outputs with requirements management and ALM tools, including Jira, Jama, and Polarion.
- Evaluate the accuracy and coverage of automated analyses, targeting an 80% reduction in analysis time.
- Hands-on experience developing LLM-, RAG-, and Knowledge Graph-based solutions (Neo4j, Graph RAG).
- Strong understanding of SW-FMEA, functional safety (ISO 26262), and systems engineering.
- Experience with C/C++ code analysis, including AST parsers and software safety mechanisms.
- Experience developing and automating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Bazel).
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++, as well as API integration development.
- Familiarity with requirements management and ALM tools (Jira, DOORS, Jama, or Polarion).
Please note that only selected candidates and Permanent Residents/Canadian Citizens will be contacted.

Skills and AI tools this role asks for
Questions you could be asked
- How would you design a retrieval step so the model answers from real data instead of guessing?
- This role expects you to use AI tools as part of the job. Which ones have you used, and for what?
- Tell me about a time an AI tool got something wrong. How did you catch it?
Adapt your resume
- List these exact terms on your resume: RAG. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
- Put the AI tool in a bullet point about what you did, not just in a skills list. This role treats it as a required part of the job.
