AI in this role
Design infrastructure sizing frameworks, rule-sets, and diagnostic tooling for Splunk Cloud workloads.
Meet the Team
You'll join Splunk Cloud's Sizing, Architecture & Governance (SAG) team. We decide how customer workloads map to infrastructure: the sizing tools the field uses, certification and capacity work for new instance types, and the sizing logic behind new pricing models. The team spans tooling, SRE, and solutions architecture, with teammates in Australia, US and UK.
Your Impact
You'll help shape sizing architecture — the frameworks, rule-sets, and tooling that decide how customer workloads map to infrastructure. Get it right, and sizing problems never reach the customer. You'll sometimes support high-visibility escalations, but your real impact is upstream in solutions' architecture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Expertise in Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL) and Splunk platform architecture — indexing, search, distributed deployments
- Production-level proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python preferred), enough to build and debug diagnostic tooling
- Working knowledge of networking, OS internals, and storage/data pipelines — enough to root-cause issues across infrastructure layers
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable explaining root cause and remediation to engineers and customers alike
- Able to join an on-call rotation covering customer escalations outside business hours
- Bachelor's + 5 years, or Master's/PhD + 2 year of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with infrastructure capacity/sizing modeling or similar quantitative systems work
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure sizing — AWS/GCP/Azure instance types, storage tiering
- Experience on a distributed/async team spanning multiple time zones
