Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer designs, builds, and supports secure, scalable solutions for Visa's Acceptance Solutions platform, focusing on transaction processing platforms. This hands-on role (70-85% coding) works with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable technology solutions while leveraging Generative AI and modern cloud-native practices.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Kotlin).
Ability to use AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, agentic AI) effectively.
Experience designing, building, and testing APIs, web services, or microservices.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
MInimum 2 years of experience in software engineering or technology delivery.
Experience developing backend, web-based, or integration-focused applications.
Experience with REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON, and API-first development.
Experience with system design, debugging, code reviews, and production support.
Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern developer tools.
Experience with data engineering, ETL pipelines, and data lake architectures
Expertise in reporting systems and business intelligence platforms
Experience with transaction lifecycle and clearing/settlement workflows
Experience building enterprise-scale APIs, microservices, or integration platforms.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar message queues.
Experience with authentication/security (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, encryption). Experience with observability tools (Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
Experience with automated testing, contract testing, performance testing, or service virtualization.
Experience in regulated industries (fintech, payments, banking, financial services).
Experience implementing Generative AI, agentic AI workflows, or intelligent automation.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of analytics and data visualization tools
Experience with SQL, data modeling, and dimensional design
Understanding of settlement, funding, and reconciliation processes
Experience with real-time streaming analytics
Knowledge of data governance, quality, and lineage
Experience with dashboard development and data visualization
Understanding of financial reporting requirements and compliance

Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $123,000.00 to $ 190,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
