Do you want to build technology that changes how Amazon's physical grocery stores run? Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores-Tech (WWGST), Stores UTR Tech (UTRT) team is looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager to lead complex programs that span multiple teams across this charter. You'll own programs from the first idea to deployment across the network. You'll work closely with engineering, science, product, store operations, finance, and outside partners. You'll turn broad goals into clear technical plans and get teams delivering on them. And you'll explain tradeoffs and progress to senior leadership. This role has a lot of ownership, and its impact shows up directly in store floors, operator workflows, and the customer experience.

Stores UTR Tech (UTRT) invents the technology behind Amazon's physical store and food production operations. Our goal is to make store operations intelligent and effortless, so operators can focus on serving customers instead of working around systems, and every customer gets an excellent grocery shopping experience.

Our charter covers the full life of store operations. That includes inbound and receiving, inventory accuracy and cycle counts, labor and task orchestration, issue escalation, and food production. We build first-party platforms, connect them with partner technology, and deploy them across a growing network of stores. The goals are to cut cost-to-serve and operational complexity sharply, and to improve both convenience and quality for customers.

This Sr. TPM leads one or more multi-team technical programs within the UTRT charter. You'll own the program strategy, roadmap, architecture alignment, dependency and risk management, and the rollout across the store network. The right person can go deep with engineers on system design and integration choices. They're just as comfortable working with store operations leaders to make sure the technology works on the floor and delivers measurable business results.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end delivery of complex technical programs across the UTRT charter, from defining requirements through pilot, network rollout, and ongoing operation.
- Work with engineering, applied science, and product teams to define system requirements, architecture, APIs, and integration points across store systems, enterprise platforms (such as inventory, financial, and labor systems), and partner technology.
- Turn business goals and operator pain points into technical roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria. Write and contribute to PR/FAQs, BRDs, and planning documents (OP1/OP2, 3-year plans).
- Manage cross-team and cross-organization dependencies, the critical path, and risks. Raise blockers early and push them to resolution.
- Plan and run pilots and multi-site rollouts, including deployment playbooks, store readiness, change management, training, and post-launch stabilization.
- Design integration approaches so that partner-provided capabilities fit cleanly into our first-party platforms and data models.
- Set up and run program mechanisms: weekly business reviews, monthly progress reviews, gate reviews, and risk registers. Report clearly to senior leadership.
- Define and track program KPIs, such as inventory accuracy, labor productivity, cost-to-serve, system reliability, and adoption, and use the data to make tradeoff and prioritization decisions.
- Work with operations, finance, food safety, and compliance partners so that regulatory, audit, and financial controls are built into systems from the start.
- Raise the TPM bar across the organization by building scalable processes, sharing best practices, and mentoring other program managers.

About the team
Stores UTR Tech (UTRT) builds the technology behind Amazon's physical grocery stores and food production operations. Our vision is to make store operations intelligent and effortless, so operators can focus on customers instead of systems and every customer has a great grocery shopping experience.

We own technology across the whole life of store operations: inbound and receiving, inventory accuracy and cycle counts, labor and task orchestration, issue escalation, and food production. We're a cross-functional team of technical program managers, product managers, software engineers, and scientists. We build first-party platforms, connect them with partner technology, and roll them out across a growing network of stores. Our goals are to lower cost-to-serve and operational complexity for store operators, and to give customers a better experience in both convenience and quality.

We work closely with store operators, so the technology we ship shows up quickly on the store floor and in how customers shop. Our team values ownership, writing things down clearly, and moving quickly when the path isn't clear.

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Program Management, System Integration, and Cross Functional Leadership. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
