About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The Robinhood Advisor Products team is bringing Trade PMR, Robinhood's newly acquired registered investment advisor platform, into the Robinhood product suite. Our multiyear mission is to connect Robinhood's growing retail customers with Trade PMR's financial advisors, while bringing together two sets of technology and user experiences into one coherent product. You'll work alongside engineers, product managers, and partners in marketing and finance who care about getting this integration right for customers on both sides. We're energized by the scope of this work and the chance to shape how two strong businesses come together!

As a Staff Web Engineer on this team, you'll build and scale full-stack systems, spanning backend services and web applications that support Advisors and Investors. You'll take on system design work, reasoning through tradeoffs to produce architecture that holds up as the integration between Trade PMR and Robinhood grows, and you'll stay hands-on, writing code while also setting technical direction. You'll partner with product, marketing, and finance stakeholders to turn open-ended requirements into concrete technical plans, and you'll coach and review other engineers' work to raise the bar on quality and process across the team. You'll have an initial focus on integrating "growing good" retail customers with Trade PMR advisors.

This role is based in our New York, NY office(s), with in-person hybrid attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do

  • Design and build full-stack web systems, backend services and user-facing web applications.
  • Create system and technical designs that hold up at scale, and reason through tradeoffs with your team before committing to an approach.
  • Partner with other engineering teams, product, marketing, and finance stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans.
  • Coach and review other engineers' work, helping raise the bar on code quality, design rigor, and delivery practices.
  • Define mechanisms to ensure best practices are applied in our development cycle.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, including customers when needed, about progress and tradeoffs.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience, with several years at the staff level and prior Team Lead experience
  • Hands-on experience building and scaling web systems, with strength in React, TypeScript, and Node, plus proficiency in Go and Python.
  • Experience designing and reasoning about scalable, reliable architectures at the Staff Engineer (IC6) level or equivalent
  • An instinct for what users need and the judgment to turn that into sound product decisions
  • Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Nice to have: experience building with AI-assisted workflows and shipping AI-powered features, and iOS or Android development experience.

What we offer

  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career.
  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching.
  • Top Tier benefits to fuel your work, including 100% paid health insurance for employees with 90% coverage for dependents.
  • Access to the Robinhood Employee Fund that gives eligible US employees the opportunity to invest in a private employee fund that provides exposure to Robinhood Ventures funds.
  • Access to the best AI tools on the market and continuous AI skill-building for every employee, technical or not.
  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible benefits spending account for wellness, learning, and more.
  • Employer-paid life & disability insurance, fertility benefits, and mental health benefits.
  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, parental leave, and more!
  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.
