About the Function
Finance at Diageo is about more than the numbers, it’s about shaping the decisions behind them.
From guiding investment to unlocking growth, this team plays a critical role in how we perform today and how we plan for tomorrow. You’ll work with data, insight and digital tools to influence strategy and help drive a business that operates at global scale.
It’s a fast-moving environment where no two days are the same, and where you’ll be supported to build your skills, grow your career and make a real impact.
About the role
The Make FP&A Assistant Manager supports the post-Prism Make planning and performance management model by delivering high-quality manufacturing cost analysis, production-variance insight and action-oriented performance commentary. The role converts production activity, process-order data, conversion cost, yield, usage, scrap, overhead and cost-center movements into clear explanations for Make leaders, finance teams and functional cost owners.
This is an L5B Assistant Manager role in the Make FP&A function. It is designed for a strong Supply Finance professional who can work with Prism dashboards, SAP data, standard Make process logic and stakeholder routines to reduce manual analysis, improve forecast quality and support a more standardized, self-service performance management environment.
Role Responsibilities
◆ Make performance analysis and reporting
· Deliver accurate and timely analysis of Make actuals, forecast, AOP and scenario views using Prism standard dashboards, SAP data and agreed definitions.
· Analyse production cost, conversion cost, manufacturing overhead, yield, usage, scrap, cost-center performance and process-order variances.
· Prepare concise commentary explaining what happened, why it happened, so what, what action is needed, who owns it and by when.
· Support monthly performance routines, close reviews and forecast discussions with driver-based insight rather than manual number production.
◆ Forecasting, planning and scenario support
· Support Make forecast and planning cycles by collecting assumptions, validating drivers and translating operational inputs into financial implications.
· Help identify risks, opportunities, run-rate movements and cost-driver changes affecting manufacturing performance.
· Support scenario modelling for production activity, cost-center performance, volume/mix changes, yield, usage and overhead assumptions.
· Ensure planning and reporting outputs are aligned with Prism standards, common KPI logic and agreed Make operating rhythms.
◆ Prism adoption, standardization and continuous improvement
· Use and promote standard Prism dashboards, workflows, data definitions and performance routines across the Make process.
· Challenge duplicate Excel work, manual reconciliations and local reporting workarounds where standard Prism outputs exist.
· Document recurring issues, data-quality gaps and improvement ideas and escalate them through the Make FP&A Manager / Prism Make Lead.
· Support Lean simplification by identifying low-value activities, repetitive analysis and opportunities for automation or self-service insight.
◆ Stakeholder partnering and action ownership
· Partner with manufacturing finance, plant finance, supply operations, Costing, Data/DDH, D&T, regional Performance Managers and other Supply FP&A teams.
· Translate Make performance information into clear business language for functional cost owners and finance stakeholders.
· Follow up on agreed actions, owners and deadlines from Make performance routines and support visibility of execution progress.
· Build trusted relationships by providing accurate analysis, constructive challenge and practical recommendations.
◆ Controls, data quality and governance
· Ensure analysis is based on agreed data sources, controlled logic, documented assumptions and transparent reconciliations.
· Support validation of Prism MVP and industrialized DDH / Databricks outputs where Make process logic or business scenarios are in scope.
· Identify SAP, Material Ledger, process-order or cost-center data issues that impact Make performance reporting and support root-cause follow-up.
· Maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, confidentiality and compliance with Diageo finance and data-governance requirements.
Key Systems & Tools
· SAP FI/CO/MM, Material Ledger, process orders, cost centers, standard costing, BOM/routing and manufacturing variance data.
· Prism dashboards, Power BI, Excel and enterprise reporting / self-service analytics tools.
· DDH / Databricks industrial data products and MVP outputs where relevant to Make performance management.
· Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint and collaboration tools for performance routines, documentation and stakeholder communication.
· Advantageous: familiarity with Alteryx outputs, Power Automate, SAP BW, Anaplan / IBP or other planning and reporting platforms.
What you'll bring· University / college degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field.
· 3+ years of experience in FP&A, Supply Finance, manufacturing finance, controlling, financial reporting or business analytics; FMCG or complex manufacturing experience preferred.
· Good understanding of manufacturing cost drivers, production planning, process orders, standard costing, conversion cost, yield, usage, scrap, overheads and COGS performance.
· Comfortable working with SAP data, Power BI dashboards, Excel models and structured reporting outputs.
· Strong analytical mindset with the ability to simplify complexity and convert data into clear business recommendations.
· Good communication and stakeholder management skills; able to create clear analysis for finance and operational audiences.
· Continuous improvement mindset with curiosity for digital tools, self-service analytics and Prism ways of working.
· Fluent English written and verbal communication skills.
