Key job responsibilities
Own the annual and multi-year transportation network strategy for return flows and reusable assets across Japan.
• Use data to identify network complexity, capacity constraints, cost drivers, and utilization opportunities.
• Design scalable hub-and-spoke network models that reduce unnecessary lanes and transportation movements.
• Develop separate Business as Usual and Peak network plans, including capacity assumptions, operating rules, and risk mitigation.
• Build planning mechanisms and performance metrics that link long-term design with daily execution.
• Partner with transportation procurement, operations, technology, and fulfillment teams to translate plans into action.
• Lead pilots, measure results, resolve trade-offs, and scale successful network changes.
• Communicate recommendations, risks, and results clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
A day in the life
On a typical day, you will analyze transportation flows, test network scenarios, and turn findings into clear decisions. You will work with procurement and operations partners to review capacity, operating constraints, and execution results. You will also lead working sessions, remove blockers, and update the network plan as business conditions change.

The Transport Inbound and MM Topology team designs scalable supply chain networks for Amazon's Japan business. We combine data, customer thinking, and practical operations knowledge to improve how goods move across the network. We value ownership, strong judgment, and respectful debate. Our team members turn ambiguous problems into simple mechanisms that deliver durable results.
Basic qualifications
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Business-level Japanese language proficiency in reading, writing, and meetings
- Business-level English language proficiency in reading, writing, and meetings
Preferred qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
- Experience in supply chain
