AI in this role
Drive cross-functional technical programs for Amazon Key, managing hardware integrations, partnerships, and delivery plans from conception to launch.
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive cross-functional programs across our engineering, product, business development, and operations partners. You will own program execution end to end: defining scope with stakeholders, building the plan, identifying dependencies and risks early, and keeping a distributed set of engineering teams aligned on delivery. You will work on programs such as access hardware integrations, third-party lock partnerships, technician installation tooling, and access-security initiatives, in close partnership with product and engineering leaders.
This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys turning ambiguity into a clear plan, is comfortable reading a design document and asking the right technical questions, and communicates crisply with audiences ranging from engineers to senior leadership.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end execution of cross-team technical programs, from requirements definition through launch and post-launch operations.
- Partner with engineering managers and senior engineers to translate business requirements into technical scope, milestones, and delivery plans.
- Identify dependencies, risks, and critical path items early; drive mitigation and escalate with clear options and recommendations.
- Coordinate across engineering teams in multiple time zones, as well as product, business development, operations, security, and external partners.
- Run program reviews and write clear, concise status updates, decision documents, and launch readiness assessments for leadership.
- Establish and improve mechanisms for intake, prioritization, and release coordination so the team can deliver predictably as program volume grows.
- Measure program outcomes against goals and drive continuous improvement in how the team plans and delivers.
A day in the life
You might start the day reviewing overnight progress from engineering teams in Europe and Asia, then run a working session with product and engineering to close open questions on a new partner integration. In the afternoon you update the program plan after a dependency shifted, write a short status note to leadership with the impact and your recommendation, and prepare for a launch readiness review later in the week.
