Technology Process Re-Engineering, Vice President

AI in this role

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a Vice President, Technology Process Re-Engineering, to lead priority process mapping and re-engineering initiatives across State Street Global Technology Services. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Technology Process Re-Engineering, this role will execute the team’s standards and methodology, develop clear end-to-end process views, and deliver practical improvements that simplify execution, strengthen controls, and improve operational transparency.

The ideal candidate is an experienced technology transformation and process improvement leader with strong capabilities in process mapping, operating model analysis, and process re-engineering within a large, complex, and regulated organization. This individual must be able to translate fragmented knowledge into clear process maps, facilitate cross-functional decisions, and manage improvement work from analysis through implementation.

This is a hands-on GTS-facing leadership role that will partner with technology process owners, risk partners, platform teams, and global delivery organizations. The Vice President will apply the standards, tooling, and governance established by the Head of Technology Process Re-Engineering while leading assigned workstreams, coaching team members, and ensuring that redesigned processes are implemented and sustained.

What you will be responsible for

GTS Technology Process Mapping Delivery

  • Apply the GTS technology process mapping methodology, standards, taxonomy, and tools to assigned priority processes, and provide practical feedback to improve the team’s approach.
  • Develop and maintain clear end-to-end views of priority GTS processes, connecting activities, roles, systems, handoffs, controls, pain points, and performance indicators to improve transparency and accountability.
  • Lead assigned process mapping and re-engineering workstreams, coordinate contributions from team members and subject matter experts across global locations, and ensure consistent quality, timely delivery, and effective stakeholder engagement.

Process Re-engineering, Optimization & Control Improvement

  • Conduct structured process analysis to identify duplication, fragmentation, manual workarounds, unclear ownership, control gaps, and opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate execution.
  • Facilitate working sessions with GTS process owners and transformation teams to design future-state processes, clarify roles and decision rights, document requirements, and develop practical implementation plans.
  • Define and track measurable outcomes for assigned re-engineering initiatives, including reduced complexity, improved cycle times, stronger control alignment, clearer accountability, and better management information.

Governance, Quality & Reporting

  • Execute governance routines that keep assigned process maps current, validated, owned, and aligned to GTS standards, control expectations, and management reporting needs.
  • Prepare concise, executive-ready reporting on process coverage, delivery progress, key risks, improvement opportunities, open decisions, and realized outcomes; escalate issues and recommendations to the Head of Technology Process Re-Engineering.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Adoption

  • Build effective working relationships across GTS technology, risk, operations, and delivery teams to align on current-state findings, future-state design, priorities, dependencies, and adoption plans.
  • Facilitate fact-based discussions, resolve day-to-day ownership ambiguity, challenge inefficient ways of working constructively, and help teams move from process documentation to measurable and sustained improvement.

What we value

  • Technology Process Delivery: Proven ability to lead complex process mapping and re-engineering workstreams within a large, matrixed technology organization.
  • Re-engineering Mindset: Demonstrated experience identifying process inefficiencies and converting analysis into practical redesign options, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Ability to engage senior stakeholders, facilitate decisions, challenge constructively, and build alignment across organizational boundaries.
  • Risk and Control Orientation: Strong understanding of how process design, ownership, controls, metrics, and evidence support operational resilience and a sound control environment.
  • Structured Communication: Strong written, verbal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to convert complex processes into clear narratives, visual maps, decision materials, and concise recommendations.
  • Analytical Depth: Ability to evaluate process data, control evidence, performance indicators, handoffs, and operating model constraints to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Change Delivery: Ability to support adoption by translating new process designs into clear actions, reinforcing accountability, monitoring outcomes, and sustaining improved ways of working across global technology teams.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in technology process transformation, process re-engineering, business architecture, operational excellence, technology transformation, or risk-aligned remediation initiatives within large organizations.
  • Experience leading complex workstreams or teams, preferably within financial services, technology, operations, risk management, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with process mapping and re-engineering methods such as BPMN, SIPOC, value stream mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, business capability mapping, operating model design, or related disciplines.
  • Experience applying process standards, governance routines, repositories, reusable templates, maturity assessments, and reporting within technology process improvement programs.
  • Strong track record working with globally distributed technology teams and influencing stakeholders across GTS, risk, operations, and business-aligned technology functions.
