AI in this role
Designs end-to-end user experiences for in-game events and systems while applying AI tools to improve research and prototyping.
As UX Designers at Riot, we are responsible for design work in high-scope product areas that are complex and ambiguous. Our work includes end-to-end experience design. The spaces will generally encompass multiple features and span across teams. We work from concept through development and collaborate with other designers to achieve our goals.
As a UX Designer on Wild Rift, you will be responsible for the UX design of in-game events and parts of the Around Game player experience. You will help turn patch and product goals into clear, engaging, and shippable player experiences. You will also improve selected Around Game systems, with particular attention to core gameplay and primary player flows.
You will work self-directed with minimal oversight on known tasks, make local product decisions within your space, and begin to participate in product direction. You will advocate for the player experience while accounting for the needs of multiple audiences and cross-functional partners.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end UX design for in-game events, partnering with the Live-Experience team to translate patch and product goals into clear player experience targets and support cross-functional delivery through launch.
- Design and improve selected Around Game systems, especially experiences connected to core gameplay and primary player flows, ensuring experiential quality and consistency across features end-to-end.
- Use competitive analysis and user research to identify player needs, UX opportunities, and product improvement directions; communicate your data-informed vision and design rationale to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Explore and apply AI tools to improve research synthesis, design exploration, prototyping, and documentation while validating outputs and following data security and confidentiality requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience designing digital experiences, products, and platforms as a User Experience Designer or Interaction Designer.
- Experience with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or other industry design and prototyping tools.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to align partners on goals, explain tradeoffs, and surface misalignment early.
Desired Qualifications:
- A BA/BS degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction/Interface Design, Communication Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with or strong interest in mobile games, live-service products, or the MOBA genre (especially League of Legends IP).
- Experience collaborating with international, cross-cultural, or external partner teams.
- Optional: An eagerness to explore and apply emerging technologies (like AI tools) to enhance design workflows.
Application Materials
We will review your work as part of the application process, so please provide a portfolio link or work samples with your application. Your portfolio should show how you define problems, use research or data to inform decisions, explore and validate solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ship the experience.
