AI in this role
AI Infrastructure Engineer [Senior]
About Tessera Labs
Tessera Labs is redefining how enterprises adopt and operationalize Artificial Intelligence. Backed by Foundation Capital and led by a world-class founding team, we build multi-agent AI systems that automate complex business workflows across platforms like SAP, Salesforce, Workday, Snowflake, DataBricks, and more.
Our mission is simple but ambitious: bring real AI automation to the enterprise — with speed, precision, and measurable impact. We move fast, operate with extreme ownership, and build at the frontier of applied AI.
About the Team
The AI Infrastructure team builds and operates the foundational AI agent infrastructure that lets Tessera run reliably, securely, and consistently across customer environments. This includes a portable cloud infrastructure that makes each environment production-ready: container orchestration (Kubernetes), networking, and automation that ensures our product behaves the same regardless of the underlying cloud provider.
This is a high-impact role because it directly enables our ability to onboard and operate enterprise customer environments under strict security and compliance constraints while preserving developer velocity. The work reduces integration risk, standardizes operational practices across hyperscalers, and ensures product teams can ship safely without infrastructure becoming a bottleneck.
The Role
As an AI Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll design and own production-grade AI agent infrastructure that supports Tessera’s AI systems across multiple cloud providers. You’ll work on everything from Kubernetes and Terraform to observability, security, and reliability with real ownership over architectural decisions.
This is a hands-on, senior IC role for someone who enjoys thinking deeply about systems and building AI agent infrastructure the right way.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain production-grade AI agent infrastructure
Be part of a team that supports Tessera’s AI infrastructure across every cloud provider
Build and be the primary owner of the Azure or Oracle Cloud variant of Tessera’s cloud infrastructure, also support GCP and AWS.
Enable portable infrastructure across customer environments
Improve observability, security, and system reliability
Deploy and operate applications using Kubernetes and Terraform
Partner closely with product and platform engineers to unblock delivery
Design and build CI/CD pipelines, own the end-to-end automation of build, test, and deployment workflows for both infrastructure and application code
Build and maintain a reusable automation framework for day-to-day DevOps and developer workflows, covering environment provisioning, secret rotation, dependency updates, compliance checks, and release management
Automate operational runbooks and recurring processes, identify manual work across the engineering org and systematically eliminate it through scripts, pipeline stages, and self-service tooling
Champion an automation-first mindset across the team, if something is done twice, it should be automated; if it's automated, it should be observable and maintained like production code
Must-Have Qualifications
10-15+ years experience as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Strong hands-on experience with Terraform
Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes
Strong hands-on experience in Azure, Oracle Cloud, GCP or AWS
Proven track record designing and owning CI/CD systems, pipeline architecture, GitOps-driven deployments, release automation, and pipeline-as-code practices expanded
Experience building automation frameworks for DevOps and developer workflows, including scripting (Bash, Python, or similar), workflow orchestration, and self-service tooling that reduces manual intervention across engineering processes expanded
Strong networking fundamentals
Proven experience deploying and operating real production systems
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience with FluxCD or other GitOps controllers (ArgoCD, etc.)
Understanding of cloud security and DevSecOps, integrating security gates, SBOM generation, and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines
A passion (and curiosity) about clean, unified infrastructure and best practices
Experience with software development and SDLC and a builder mindset
Who You Are
Somebody with a passion for learning new things and robust, reliable infrastructure
Comfortable owning and defending complex AI agent infrastructure decisions
Experienced in startups and/or big tech environments
Highly self-motivated with a strong ownership mindset
Someone who enjoys building foundational systems that other engineers rely on
Why Join Tessera Labs
Work on cutting-edge AI infrastructure with real enterprise impact
Own foundational systems at an early-stage, high-growth company
Collaborate with a sharp, execution-focused founding team
Shape how AI is deployed across the largest enterprise platforms in the world

Skills and AI tools this role asks for
Questions you could be asked
- How do you decide when an AI agent can act on its own versus asking for approval first?
- Tell me about a workflow you automated with AI tools, end to end.
- What are the limits of Databricks that you've run into, and how did you work around them?
- Describe a typical day in a role like this one: which parts run through AI directly?
- If you removed AI from this role, what would be left, and how do you decide what still needs a human?
Adapt your resume
- List these exact terms on your resume: AI agents, AI Automation, and Databricks. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
- Show where AI is part of your daily process, not a one-off project. This role expects it to be a running habit.
