Aon UK Industrial Placement Recruitment: What to Expect We know applying for your first industrial placement role can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting. At Aon, we’re committed to making our recruitment process as transparent and supportive as possible. Here’s how our selection journey works, and what you can expect at each stage: 1. Application Review We process applications on a rolling basis, moving candidates forward as they complete each stage. Every application is carefully reviewed by our team (not by AI). Due to the high volume of interest, this stage can take up to two weeks. Please note: We do not review CVs or cover letters at this point. 2. Online Assessment We understand you want to put your best foot forward, allowing you 5 calendar days to complete the online assessment. If you need more time, just let us know as extensions are available. 3. Video Interview Preparation matters, so you’ll have up to 10 days (240 hours) from receiving your invitation to record and submit your video interview. Rest assured: Every video interview is reviewed by a real member of our hiring team, not an AI system. You’ll typically hear back from us within 2-3 weeks after submitting your interview, though times may vary depending on how many applications we receive. 4. Assessment Centres Our assessment centres are held in person at the Aon site closest to the location you applied for. Please note: Due to the large number of applications, not every candidate who completes a video interview will be invited to an assessment centre. Assessment centres usually run after Christmas, from mid-January. If selected, a notice period of 7-14 days will be provided to help you arrange any travel. We run a limited number of Assessment Centre so please make every effort to attend if invited. We reimburse reasonable travel costs (such as standard class train tickets). Flights and hotels are only covered if agreed in advance. At the assessment centre stage, your CV and cover letter will be shared with hiring managers. This helps them get a fuller picture of you as a candidate—but these documents are not used for initial screening. What is Aon's guidance of the use of AI during the selection process? As an innovative global leader, we recognize and embrace the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help job seekers be more efficient in their recruitment processes. In fact, Aon is in the business of developing and implementing innovative AI tools that support both colleagues and clients, which you’ll use as an Aon colleague if you join our team. AI can be a helpful tool for researching Aon, preparing for interviews or refining your CV, it should support, not replace, your own thinking, judgement, skills and experiences. Any application materials you submit should accurately reflect your achievements, capabilities and potential. We ask that you refrain from using AI when completing assessments or during live or pre-recorded interview processes, which will often include an in-person interview where the technology will not be available to you. Additionally, virtual or in-person interviews should not be recorded or transcribed. At Aon, we foster a culture of inclusiveness, fairness and transparency. We expect all candidates to embrace these principles in every interaction with us. Can I apply for more than one programme or role? We ask candidates to submit one Early Carers application per recruitment cycle. We encourage you to explore our opportunities carefully and apply for the programme or role that best matches your skills, passions, and professional aspirations. This helps you focus on submitting your strongest application and ensures we can assess candidates fairly and efficiently. If, during the hiring process, we believe another opportunity at Aon suits your experience and goals better, our recruitment team may talk to you about other options. If you're unsure which programme is right for you, we recommend reviewing the programme information on our careers site or attending one of our events before applying. Top Tip: Choose the role you're most excited about, rather than treating a second application as a back-up option. We want to understand where your genuine interests lie and how you see your future career developing. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
