Amazon's Packaging Design & Innovation team is looking for an Associate Packaging Designer to support the development of fiber-based packaging solutions that protect products, delight customers, and reduce environmental impact across Amazon's fulfillment network.
In this role, you will work alongside senior designers, program managers, automation engineers, and material scientists to bring new packaging concepts from prototype through testing and into production. You will build foundational skills in structural packaging design, CAD modeling, material testing, and specification development while contributing directly to packaging programs that reach hundreds of millions of customers.
This is a hands-on, lab-and-desk role with exposure to fulfillment center operations, supplier engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be supported by experienced designers and engineers who will help you grow your technical expertise and operational knowledge.

Key job responsibilities
• Create and iterate on packaging prototypes and structural designs using ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD tools
• Produce visual renderings and design documentation to communicate concepts to internal stakeholders
• Support the development and maintenance of packaging specifications for paper bags, mailers, boxes, and dunnage materials
• Execute packaging performance tests in the lab (drop testing, compression, material characterization) and document results
• Assist in preparing test reports and presentations summarizing design performance, material comparisons, and recommendations
• Participate in cross-functional meetings with automation, customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability teams
• Support supplier sample evaluation, material qualification, and production readiness activities
• Travel to fulfillment centers, labs, and supplier facilities to support testing, pilot launches, and design validation (~15–20%)
