AI in this role

We are looking for a BlueField Platform Tech Lead — a senior individual contributor who will own the end-to-end technical architecture of the BF platform stack. This role is the single authoritative voice across both the ARM SoC / boot firmware layer (ATF, UEFI, Linux bring-up) and the BMC layer (Yocto, embedded Linux, platform management). You will guide current BlueField generations and set the technical direction for future ones. Do you enjoy leading the whole system rather than one piece of it, and making the decisions that keep it working together? This position is for you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture and roadmap for the
  • BlueField platform. This covers SoC boot, platform firmware (ATF/UEFI), the DPU BMC, and the interfaces between the DPU, the host and the BMC.
  • Set the platform’s technical direction with architecture, hardware, NIC firmware, software stack and product teams. Make sure decisions stay consistent across BlueField generations and product variants.
  • Define and maintain platform interface contracts, including boot and reset flows, firmware update and recovery, platform management (Redfish, PLDM, MCTP, IPMI), and BMC–SoC communication.
  • Own platform security architecture together with the security teams: secure boot, measured boot, attestation, key and provisioning flows, and secure firmware update.
  • Act as the technical lead for new silicon and board bring-up. Assess hardware issues, define workarounds, and drive readiness criteria for achievements and releases.
  • Serve as the technical reference for customers and partners. Translate platform requirements and use cases into architecture and design decisions.
  • Assess emerging technologies, standards, tools and development methods, such as automation, emulation/simulation, observability and failure triage. Drive adoption where they improve product quality, engineering efficiency or time to debug.
  • Raise the organization’s technical skills through build reviews, technical mentorship and collaborative discussions.

What we need to see:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in embedded, firmware or Linux system software.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the two domains below, and solid working knowledge of the other:
  • ARM platform boot: ATF, UEFI/EDK II, bootloaders, Linux kernel bring-up, device tree/ACPI, platform initialization
  • BMC and platform management: OpenBMC, Redfish interface, PLDM protocol, MCTP communication, IPMI standards, firmware update flows
  • A strong grasp of platform security principles, including secure boot, chain of trust and firmware security.
  • A record of leading difficult cross-organizational technical projects from definition through delivery, including decisions with material product or schedule impact.
  • Experience influencing architecture and product direction through technical judgment, without relying on direct management authority.
  • Strong C skills and practical experience in Linux development, debugging, and hardware/software integration.
  • Excellent communication and technical presentation skills, including with customers and senior stakeholders.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Hands-on experience with both ARM SoC/server boot flows (ATF, UEFI) and BMC software (OpenBMC, Yocto).
  • Experience with trusted boot processes, attestation (SPDM), provisioning, firmware update or recovery architectures.
  • Knowledge of server-platform interfaces: PCIe, I2C/I3C, SPI, SMBus, NC-SI, and reset and power sequencing.
  • Experience with DPU, SmartNIC or data-center server platforms, and with networking protocols.
  • Experience building automated test, emulation, observability or failure-triage infrastructure, or introducing tools that clearly improved team efficiency.
