About the Role

We are looking for a Cloud Operations Manager to lead the Operations and Observability teams within SRE. You will manage around seven engineers across two areas: Operations, which keeps our production environment healthy for the business, and Observability, which gives developers and product teams clear visibility into how our systems behave.
This is a people leadership role for someone who is also strong technically. You will hire, grow, and support your team, while staying close enough to the technology to guide architectural decisions, lead during incidents, and raise the operational bar across engineering.

Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of SRE and observability engineers, including leads. Run 1:1s, set clear goals, give feedback, and support career growth.
  • Hiring and Team Building: Help hire and onboard new team members as we scale the Operations and Observability areas.
  • Operational Excellence: Own the reliability of our production environment on GCP and GKE, including incident response, on-call health, post-mortems, and continuous improvement.
  • Observability Strategy: Partner with the Observability Lead to define how we monitor, alert, and trace our systems, so teams can detect and fix issues fast.
  • SLOs and Reliability Metrics: Define and track SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets with engineering and product, and use them to drive priorities.
  • Cost and Efficiency: Drive cloud cost visibility and optimization across our infrastructure.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product engineering, product, and leadership to align operational work with business priorities.

Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years in SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years managing engineers.
  • Technical Depth: Strong hands-on background with GCP, Kubernetes (GKE), Docker, and Terraform, with enough depth to guide technical decisions and review architecture.
  • Observability: Solid experience with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Incident Management: Proven experience leading incident response, on-call rotations, and post-mortems in production environments.
  • Leadership: Track record of building, growing, and retaining high-performing technical teams.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical risks and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with Go or Python, FinOps, and fintech or regulated environments is a plus.
  • These are the applicable requirements, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Initial stock options grant
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave
  • Work model: currently fully remote, with a future transition to a hybrid setup
  • Health, dental, and vision plans
  • Continuous learning opportunities
  • Empowering opportunities for growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Sre, Cloud Operations, Team Leadership, Observability, and Opentelemetry. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
