AI in this role
Provide legal guidance, regulatory compliance, and product counseling for AWS compute and cloud services.
You'll be an integral part of the AWS compute service teams, giving legal input on their business and strategy, in addition to providing counsel on a range of regulatory issues. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly. Finally, you’ll get to work with engineers and service teams across AWS, learning about the services we build and customers we support, with great visibility across the company and senior leaders.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies;
- Advising on regulatory issues;
- Overseeing compliance, negotiating strategic technology agreements and providing input on business strategy;
- Developing strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways; and
- Helping build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly.
A day in the life
Your day will be a blend of strategic problem-solving and legal innovation. You'll engage with product and engineering teams, navigate intricate legal landscapes, and provide counsel that bridges technology and legal frameworks. Expect to dive into fascinating challenges that require both legal acumen and technological insight, working closely with global security experts to develop new approaches to cloud security.

Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent
- Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
