Are you someone who thrives on keeping critical infrastructure running reliably? As an Operations Technician II at Amazon, you will be at the center of maintaining and operating the mission-critical systems that power our customers' experiences. You will use your technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety systems to troubleshoot complex issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and drive process improvements that directly impact system reliability. This is a hands-on role where your technical judgment matters — you will plan and execute work assignments, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with your team to maintain operational excellence across critical facilities. This role requires shift work.

Key job responsibilities
- Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record data from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, ensuring continuous reliability and availability of critical infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot moderate to high-complexity technical issues across mechanical and electrical systems, performing root cause analysis and executing repairs using technical documentation, prints, and drawings.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks by reviewing operational dashboards, maintenance schedules, and change management documents to prioritize work based on current site conditions.
- Manage on-site vendor activities by reviewing work scope, verifying alignment with established procedures, and ensuring all work meets safety and operational standards.
- Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to less-experienced team members on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.

A day in the life
Your day starts with a review of operational dashboards and a handoff from the previous shift, where you assess current site conditions and outstanding work items. From there, you move into building rounds — inspecting generators, power distribution systems, cooling equipment, and fire/life safety systems. You may spend part of your day performing scheduled maintenance on electrical switchgear or diagnosing an issue with a chiller system, then documenting your findings to support the team's change management program.

About the team
Our team is responsible for the safe, reliable operation of critical facility infrastructure that our customers depend on every day. We work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and safety disciplines to maintain uptime and continuously improve how we operate. We are building an inclusive team of technically curious problem-solvers who take pride in their craft and are eager to grow. If you want to develop your skills while making a tangible impact on infrastructure that operates at scale, this is the team for you.
