AI in this role

Job Description:

At Airbus, our purpose is to “pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe & united world”. As a member of the Propulsion Engineering center, you will contribute to the revolution in aviation by designing and integrating the Powerplant System (PPS). This includes responsibility for all system routings from wing to engine—such as bleed, hydraulic, fuel, fire detection & extinguishing—on main structural components like the pylon. The working environment is multidisciplinary and challenging, dealing with complex interfaces (Level 1, Chief engineering, engine manufacturer, nacelle manufacturer).

Our missions are to define the future of propulsion system installation, support production activities, in-service operations, and drive continuous improvements for all commercial programs. This role is vital in advancing the route to decarbonization and preparing for next-generation propulsion systems (e.g., Open Fan, hybrid engines, Fuel Cell architectures)

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a technical leader to leverage extensive experience in Electrical System Installation (ESI). Your main mission will be twofold, focusing on strategic development and the resolution of complex fleet challenges:

  • System Development and Optimization:
  • To develop optimized, robust, and cost-effective Electrical System Installation (ESI) solutions (e.g., harnesses, connections, bracketing, power systems). The goal is to reduce weight and costs, improve reliability, performance, manufacturability, and maintainability of pylon system installation.1
  • To lead the activity related to the implementation of these solutions on the aircraft, covering both the existing fleet and the next generation propulsion systems of future aircraft.
  • Strategic Technology Leadership (R&T):
  • To actively contribute to the identification, definition, and maturation of new ESI "techno bricks" (e.g., new design principles, routing concepts, integration solutions) relevant for future propulsion architectures.1
  • To support Technology Leaders in preparing and contributing to design studies and Technology Readiness Level (TRL) reviews. This includes working on architectural trades for Propulsion of Tomorrow projects (e.g., UHBR, Open Fan, Micro Hybridization) and Hydrogen A/C.
  • Complex Issue Resolution and Coordination:
  • To lead and resolve complex electrical system topics, especially those related to the challenges ahead, such as supporting the transition to more electrical A/C, hydraulic less A/C, and fuel cell A/C. This includes defining design solutions (3D, drawings, concessions, repairs).1
  • To ensure strong coordination of all stakeholders, including plant production, in-service support, project teams, R&T, and Chief Engineering.

The Ideal Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced engineer who will be a vector of integration for the Airframe System organization within Propulsion.

Professional Background / Technical Competencies:

  • Mandatory Experience: Strong and extensive experience (more than 10 years) in electrical system installation (ESI) (e.g., harnesses, routing, connections, power systems) within an airframe component (fuselage, wing, pylon) is mandatory.
  • Education: Master degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of electrical system installation, methods, and tools. Mastery of design tools including CATIA V5 and ESI-specific modules and tools. Willingness to learn new tools like 3D experience.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Deep knowledge of the propulsion environment is highly recommended. Complementary competencies in vibration, thermal, or structure pre-sizing will be a strong plus.
  • Leadership and Process: Proven success in leading technical projects. Ability to manage sub-contracted activities efficiently.

Soft Skills:

  • You are dynamic, curious, and proactive.
  • You demonstrate strong team spirit and a collaborative mindset.
  • You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and convince stakeholders.
  • Your English level is advanced as you will interact with engine manufacturers & other Airbus sites abroad.

Why Join Us?

  • Impactful Work: Directly contribute to developing, certifying, and maintaining the airworthiness of commercial and cargo aircraft.
  • Career Opportunities: Access tailored mentorship programs, continuous upskilling, and global career opportunities.
  • Join a great team: Become integral part of a highly energetic and dynamic team, serving a greater, meaningful purpose and enjoying work.
