Our team drives Cloud Control—Cisco's top-priority enterprise platform integrating our networking, security, and observability portfolio with modern AI. We operate with startup agility, high autonomy, and dedicated senior mentorship, building an AI-native engineering culture that scales globally. In this role, you will partner directly with engineering leaders, product managers, and applied AI researchers to turn ambitious roadmaps into reliable production systems.

Your Impact

  • Translate product requirements and architectural plans into clear work breakdown structures, milestones, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors across Product Management, Core Software Engineering, Applied AI/ML, Data Platforms, Infrastructure, and Security.
  • Proactively track critical paths, surface delivery risks early, resolve routine operational blockers, and escalate architectural or resourcing trade-offs with clear context.
  • Support release readiness, testing, deployment validation, and operational handoffs, tracking reliability and monitoring requirements alongside engineering teams.
  • Foster strong execution hygiene by applying fit-for-purpose Agile practices, facilitating sprint rituals, and contributing to shared delivery templates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field, plus 2+ years of experience in technical program management, software delivery, or software engineering (or Master's degree with 1+ years).
  • Applied experience coordinating cross-functional software, cloud SaaS, data, or AI projects through a production release or major milestone.
  • Demonstrated ability to build project schedules, track dependencies, manage critical paths, and resolve operational blockers using Jira or equivalent tooling.
  • Foundational understanding of modern software development lifecycles, Agile practices, cloud services, and APIs to collaborate effectively with technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise SaaS platforms or cloud-native microservices environments.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI concepts, LLM integration, agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, or AI evaluation harnesses.
  • Educational background from a top-tier engineering institution or demonstrated AI internship / capstone project experience.
  • Experience supporting API integrations, data platform pipelines, security compliance, or operational readiness reviews.

How we rate this

Engineering Project Manager at Cisco rates 17 out of 100 for how much of the daily work is AI. That makes it Little AI (AI Level 1 of 4). The level is about AI in the job, not seniority.

Classification

Little AI. AI is not part of the work.

  1. ●●●● Builds AI80 to 100
  2. ●●●○ Works on AI60 to 79
  3. ●●○○ Uses AI40 to 59
  4. ●○○○ Little AI0 to 39

Levels come from how often the tools, models and workflows of the role are named in the posting itself. Open the description and count.

Skills and AI tools this role asks for

RAGLLM IntegrationAI AgentsAI Evaluation

Questions you could be asked

  1. How would you design a retrieval step so the model answers from real data instead of guessing?
  2. How have you integrated a large language model into a production application?
  3. How do you decide when an AI agent can act on its own versus asking for approval first?
  4. How do you decide that one model's output is better than another's for a given task?

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: RAG, LLM Integration, AI Agents, and AI Evaluation. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
