AI in this role

The Facilities Coordinator should hold a minimum of a BSc degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical, bringing the technical foundation needed to lead maintenance across a Fulfilment Centre.
The role carries a significant impact on customer experience. The Facilities Coordinator leads and manages outside contractors, remains on call for emergencies, handles multiple projects alongside daily activities, and delivers against tough time lines. They develop the plans by which engineering departmental goals are accomplished.
Beyond the technical scope, the Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the leadership, development and coaching of the team, and carries out Performance Management for Maintenance. They lead the technical team in delivering both reactive and pro active maintenance across all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure within the FC.
The impact is direct and measurable. Site productivity and operational success depend on this role, because equipment that is unavailable or performing badly immediately reduces the capacity and throughput of the site.

A day in the life
The Shift Supervisor owns the daily operating rhythm of the RME team, with the RMEAM accountable for sign-off.

The shift opens with a handover from the outgoing supervisor covering performance by area, escalations from both Operations and RME, and key observations. The Supervisor then establishes area readiness in the RME Flow Room, including FOB policy, Team Board updates, and Permits to Work posted. Next comes verification of the Work Order plan, matching every WO to the technician's skills and qualifications against the Skills Matrix before assignment, cross-checked with the other SRMETs. This is locked in at the Stand Up Meeting, which sets the shift's safety tip, critical communications, goals against Ops volume and PMs due, EAM backlog, and staffing.

Through the shift, the Supervisor runs three floor walks covering Inbound, RME Workshop and Outbound, checking safety compliance, surfacing barriers to the PM plan, and collecting technician input. Safety feedback is consolidated and escalated to the RMEAM for the Safety Board. The Supervisor stays present in the flow room monitoring progress against Safety, Quality, Customer Promise and Productivity, reading SCADA and OEE data and reacting to escalations. The mid-shift meeting re-tests the morning's assumptions and re-plans where the picture has changed.

The shift closes with the EOS report and meeting, confirming PM and contractor completion, Permit closure, escalations and observations, followed by handover to the incoming supervisor. Escalation paths for injury and Severity 1/2 events sit with the Supervisor throughout.

At Amazon Robotics sites, the Supervisor or dedicated AR SRMET additionally sustains AR area readiness, where the Area Readiness Report grades handoff quality, and acts on AR metrics flagged as critical.

In short: handover in, plan and brief, walk the floor and monitor, re-plan mid-shift, verify and hand over out, with safety and skills-matched work assignment running through every ste
