Description -

Build your technical career with HP

Are you mechanically or electrically inclined, enjoy troubleshooting, and like figuring out how equipment works? This is an opportunity to turn those skills into a career with HP.

As an Repair and Maintainence Technician, you’ll join a collaborative team of technicians, engineers, and facilities professionals who keep critical equipment and systems operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. Your work will directly support our fabrication and laboratory environments and the teams developing HP technology.

This role is a great fit for someone early in their technical career who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, electronics, instrumentation, controls, and learning new systems.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, instrumentation, and single-loop controllers
  • Perform instrument testing, calibration, and preventative maintenance
  • Use test equipment such as digital multimeters, temperature and pressure calibrators, and signal generators
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Install and troubleshoot wiring in accordance with schematics and applicable electrical codes
  • Assist with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls
  • Conduct field verification, document findings, and help update drawings and schematics
  • Operate and maintain equipment while following established safety and maintenance standards
  • Complete required sampling, testing, and documentation
  • Partner with system engineers to troubleshoot existing equipment and support the design and development of new systems
  • Communicate equipment and system status with technicians, engineers, management, and service partners
  • Help identify equipment deficiencies and coordinate needed repairs
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone who has a strong technical foundation, enjoys hands-on work, and is motivated to continue developing their skills.

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • A high school diploma, GED, technical-school education, apprenticeship experience, or equivalent practical experience
  • An interest in electronics, electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, controls, equipment maintenance, or related technical work
  • Hands-on experience using basic hand and power tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • An ability to read or an interest in learning to read electrical drawings and schematics
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to working safely and maintaining accurate documentation
  • A willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and technologies

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Experience in some of the following areas is helpful, but you do not need experience in every area to apply:

  • PLC programming or troubleshooting
  • Instrumentation and process controls
  • 4–20 mA control signals
  • PID controllers
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Control panels
  • Equipment calibration
  • Multimeters and electronic test equipment
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Industrial, manufacturing, facilities, or laboratory environments

Why This Opportunity?

This is more than a maintenance position. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians and engineers, develop valuable instrumentation, electrical, controls, and PLC skills, and see firsthand how reliable infrastructure supports HP’s fabrication and laboratory operations.

If you’re curious, hands-on, safety-minded, and excited to grow your technical career, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every preferred qualification.

The pay range for this position is $24 to $34 USD per hour (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Troubleshooting, Calibration, Electrical Systems, Maintenance, and Instrumentation. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
