Lead the end-to-end fraud defense for a high-growth financial product in Mexico while directly shaping the balance between loss containment, customer experience, and approval rates. If you thrive on making high-stakes decisions with imperfect data and turning fraud signals into actionable rules, this is your opportunity to build and scale a fraud prevention function from the ground up.
As the Fraud Prevention Head, you will design and execute the fraud prevention strategy across three critical stages: account onboarding, transaction monitoring, and post-transaction behavior analysis.
To succeed, you must demonstrate a disciplined, evidence-based approach to rule design—combined with the sound judgment needed to operate under pressure and make critical decisions when information is incomplete. Success in this role is measured by fraud loss, detection and false positive rates and First Payment Default rate attributed to fraud. Experience in financial services fraud prevention, digital origination channels, knowledge of identity and validation vendors in Mexico, blacklists, device signals, and geolocation tools is a plus.

Key job responsibilities
You will manage the full ecosystem—including identity verification, biometrics, and document validation—while building and refining fraud rules and models grounded in evidence and data. You will own the loss taxonomy and lead the attribution process between fraud and credit risk in close partnership with the Credit Risk team, ensuring clear accountability and precise measurement.

Your scope extends beyond external threats: you will lead the detection of internal fraud in coordination with business partners and the Payment Risk department and manage the disputes to ensure compliance with onboarding rules. You will serve as the primary liaison for incident reporting with Ops, AML, Legal, and Information Security teams, ensuring swift and coordinated responses.

A day in the life
You will monitor and tune the fraud prevention framework. This includes overseeing fraud alerts, following transaction anomaly dashboards, reviewing false positive rates to ensure legitimate customers are not being unnecessarily blocked, assessing detection rate trends against fraud loss targets and tracking First Payment Default cases attributed to fraud. You will analyze data to assess whether newly detected patterns warrant rule adjustments, model recalibrations, or escalation to the identity and biometrics vendors. You will join working sessions with Ops, AML, Legal, and BRP to coordinate active incident investigations, share intelligence on suspicious activity.

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Fraud Detection, Risk Management, Data Analysis, Identity Verification, and Compliance. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
