Mechanical/Hardware Engineer

AI in this role

Mechanical/Hardware Engineer

Description -

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative, high-volume video conferencing products. This role requires a strong mechanical engineering foundation combined with a rapid-prototyping mindset and the ability to turn design concepts into functional, scalable product designs.

The successful candidate will work closely with industrial design, audio, thermal, electrical, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to evaluate concepts, identify design tradeoffs, and make rapid, evidence-based design decisions. The engineer will create prototypes, conduct or coordinate testing, incorporate feedback, and iterate quickly to advance products from early concepts through production-ready designs.

This position is ideal for an engineer who is comfortable working through ambiguity, collaborating across technical disciplines, and developing mechanical solutions that can scale beyond one-off prototypes to commercial manufacturing volumes.

Responsibilities

  •  Translate industrial design concepts into functional mechanical designs and physical prototypes that can be evaluated by engineering and product teams.
  • Use rapid-prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, to quickly produce, test, and refine design concepts.
  •  Develop mechanical designs for complex video conferencing products, subsystems, enclosures, structural components, and related assemblies.
  • Use 3D CAD design proficiency to create and manage system architectures and assemblies.
  • Collaborate on complex designs with industrial design, ODMS, and other engineering teams to assess system-level performance and design tradeoffs.
  •  Apply an iterative development approach by building prototypes, evaluating results, incorporating feedback, and making timely design improvements.
  • Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on mechanical and thermal design and development.
  •  Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall mechanical/thermal leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the mechanical and thermal design organization.
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents.
  •  Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence. Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, implementation across hardware development lifecycle, or a related field.
