AI in this role

Behind every Amazon order, Prime Video stream, and AWS service is a network moving vast amounts of data, securely and at enormous scale. Are you fascinated by how that's built and kept running? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Amazon as a Network Engineer Apprentice.

In this role, you'll learn to design, install, and support the communication networks organisations rely on every day. Working alongside experienced network engineers, you'll develop expertise across both the hardware and software sides of networking - from cloud technologies to physical infrastructure - helping keep the systems people depend on running reliably.

Throughout your apprenticeship you'll grow from supporting the fundamentals to confidently handling real network challenges, building the technical depth to diagnose, fix, and improve - and the communication skills to support colleagues across the business. We move fast, fail fast, and fix faster, so you'll be encouraged to dig in and take ownership early.

A day in the life can involve:

- Installing and configuring network components and devices for secure, efficient operation
- Monitoring and analysing network performance to maintain optimal service levels
- Troubleshooting technical issues and implementing solutions to minimise downtime
- Supporting network systems, including cloud services
- Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations and changes
- Assisting with network upgrades and implementing security measures
- Providing technical support to users across the organisation
- Collaborating with the team to deliver reliable network solutions

Over the programme, you'll gain comprehensive hands-on experience across the breadth of network engineering - network architectures and protocols, cloud computing and virtualisation, routing and switching, wireless networks, security tools and threat prevention, monitoring and optimisation, business continuity and disaster recovery, and industry-standard automation techniques.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds with a keen interest in technology and how networks work. You don't need prior experience - just enthusiasm, a logical approach to problem-solving, a bias for action, and a genuine curiosity about how things connect.

Here at Amazon, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Within this apprenticeship you'll put newfound knowledge into practice every day, supported by first-class coaching, tailored development, and rewarding work that will empower you to reach new heights and build the future you envision.

You'll gain a vast range of experiences and skills while working towards the Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship. As a working student, your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off-the-job time, developing the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You'll be set goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.

You'll build your skills over a 24-month period, starting in September. Your apprenticeship will combine classroom/virtual-based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning, and mentoring from our experienced team members.

We value different perspectives and experiences, and we're dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Our employee-led affinity groups – including communities for women in tech, LGBTQ+ employees, and underrepresented minorities – provide community, mentorship, and a platform for your voice to be heard. We're committed to building a workforce that reflects the customers and communities we serve.

We're also continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer, so you'll have the resources and support to develop into a well-rounded professional.

Your career isn't a straight path – it's a journey you build as you go. A universe of opportunity awaits, and your next adventure starts here.

Please note: as part of your off-the-job learning, you may be required to travel to a training centre, which may differ from your primary work base. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel as part of the programme.
