At Amazon, we've invested deeply in building a resilient, secure, and globally distributed network in the cloud. AWS is looking for an Edge/Network Specialist Solutions Architect for our Europe South team, who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) helping customers design complex networking and edge delivery solutions spanning connectivity, content delivery, and perimeter protection services.

As part of the team, you will work closely with Europe South customers across all industry verticals to drive adoption of AWS Network Services, including CloudFront, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, PrivateLink, VPC Lattice, Elastic Load Balancing, WAF, and Shield. You will act as a trusted advisor on hybrid connectivity, network security, application delivery, and high-throughput architectures supporting AI/ML, migration, and modernization workloads. Beyond customer engagements, you will create and deliver original content, including white papers, blogs, reference architectures, and presentations, to enable customers and field teams to fully leverage the strength of the AWS network from data center to end user.

Key job responsibilities
As the Network Services Specialist SA for Europe South, you will:
- Act as the regional SME for AWS network and edge services, advising customers on connectivity, content delivery, and perimeter protection architectures.
- Lead technical deep dives, architecture reviews, and hands-on workshops covering CloudFront, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, PrivateLink, VPC Lattice, Elastic Load Balancing, WAF, and Shield.
- Design hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, zero-trust network segmentation, and high-availability application delivery for enterprise customers.
- Support high-throughput architectures for AI/ML, migration, and modernization workloads.
- Create reusable reference architectures, white papers, and blogs, and present at Summits, re:Invent, and customer events.
- Partner with sales, service teams, and the field community to drive adoption of AWS network services across the region.

A day in the life
You start the day on a customer architecture review, helping an enterprise redesign hybrid connectivity across Direct Connect and Transit Gateway. Midday you run a workshop on edge delivery and perimeter protection, then partner with an account team to unblock a migration networking design. In the afternoon you write a reference architecture for high-throughput AI/ML connectivity and prepare a talk for an upcoming customer event. You work across engineering teams and VP-level stakeholders.

About the team
The Europe South Specialist SA team helps customers get the most from the AWS global network, from data center to end user. We are deep technical experts who pair closely with customers and account teams on their most complex networking and edge challenges. We value hands-on building, original technical content, and customer obsession. We learn fast, share openly, and help each other grow in a collaborative, high-trust environment.

Basic qualifications

- Deep expertise in CDN and Edge Services Hands-on experience with content delivery networks (CloudFront or equivalent), edge compute (Lambda@Edge, CloudFront Functions), Global Accelerator, and perimeter protection architectures (WAF, Shield, Firewall Manager).
- Enterprise networking architecture Advanced knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud networking: Direct Connect (including 100+ Gbps), Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, VPN, and BGP routing.
- Network security and zero-trust design Expertise in network segmentation, PrivateLink, VPC Lattice, security groups, NACLs, and micro-segmentation patterns.
- Application delivery and load balancing Deep understanding of Elastic Load Balancing (ALB, NLB, GWLB), origin architectures, TLS termination, health checking patterns, and high-availability application delivery across regions and edge locations.
- Performance optimization and troubleshooting Ability to diagnose and resolve complex latency, throughput, and connectivity issues across distributed architectures.
- Customer-facing technical leadership Proven ability to lead architectural workshops, deliver technical presentations at events (Summits, re:Invent, customer days), write technical blogs, and create reusable reference architectures. Comfortable presenting to both engineering teams and VP/C-level audiences.

Preferred qualifications

- AI/ML and high-throughput workload connectivity Understanding of network requirements for AI/ML training, fine-tuning, and inference workloads, including high-capacity DX provisioning, placement group networking, EFA, and low-latency connectivity to GPU/Trainium clusters.
- Migration and modernization networking Experience designing network foundations for large-scale cloud migrations (VMware, Oracle, SAP), including DX + TGW bridge connectivity, DNS migration, IP address management, and hybrid routing during cutover periods.
