Job Description

Purpose of the role

Deliver exceptional sales and business performance by acquiring, developing and maintaining highly proactive, long term client relationships. Protect Barclays reputation through sound risk decisions by managing client group within their risk profile and appropriate regulatory framework.

Accountabilities

  • Manage and grow client relationships and acquire new clients - identifying and managing solutions to meet a wide range of client needs.

  • Establish a sound understanding of the strategy of the clients in their portfolio through regular proactive contact, responding to client / prospect queries and requests and identifying opportunities that will deliver long term commercial reward.

  • Manage operational, reputational, financial crime and credit risk for the portfolio to avoid exposing Barclays to undue risk.

  • Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework  and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards Service/group relationships - referrals to group colleagues.

Director Expectations

  • To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..

  • They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.

  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.

  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.

  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.

  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.

  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.

  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.

  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.

  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.

  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.

  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.

This is a unique opportunity for an established Director-level Private Banker to play a leading role in expanding one of the region's most ambitious wealth management franchises. Working closely with the UAE leadership team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future growth of the business, influence market strategy and build deep relationships with some of the region's most successful entrepreneurs, family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and institutional influencers.

We are seeking a high-performing banker with a proven track record of building and managing significant client relationships across the Middle East. The successful candidate will bring a strong professional network, commercial acumen and the ability to originate new business opportunities while acting as a trusted adviser to clients with complex and international wealth needs.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Act as a senior ambassador for Barclays Private Bank across the Middle East, strengthening the firm's presence and reputation in the region.
  • Leverage an established professional network to generate new client opportunities and strategic referral partnerships.
  • Support the continued growth of the UAE franchise through market insight, client acquisition and collaboration with key stakeholders across Barclays.
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues, sharing market expertise and contributing to the development of the wider Private Banking team.

 

 

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating as a Director-level Private Banker or equivalent, managing a substantial portfolio of HNW/UHNW clients and delivering sustained growth in assets, revenues and client relationships.
  • Strong experience across the Middle East wealth management market, with a demonstrable network of clients, intermediaries, family offices, professional advisers and centres of influence within the region.
  • Proven track record of acquiring and developing UHNW client relationships and generating significant net new assets.
  • Deep understanding of the cultural, regulatory and commercial dynamics of the Middle East private wealth landscape.
