AI in this role

Job Title: Product Designer
Salary: £60,000- £70,000
Location: Hybrid (1-2 days per week in London office)
Our Digital Design Team are on the search for a new Product Designer.

Here's what our Senior Product Designer had to say about the role:

“This is a brilliant opportunity for a Product Designer who really cares about their craft and wants to see the impact of their work. You’ll have the freedom to shape meaningful parts of our mobile experience, work closely with Product and Engineering, and solve real customer problems as we continue to evolve our app. We’re looking for someone with fresh ideas, great attention to detail and a real curiosity for how we can make the experience better.”

‎What You'll Do:

Design across the mobile app: Produce polished, pixel-perfect, user-centred designs for key areas of our app, bringing fresh ideas and challenging the safe option where there is a better experience to be created

Hold a high bar for craft: Use Figma and Miro confidently, maintain handover-ready design files, test designs after build and use animation and motion where it improves the experience

Think in journeys, not just screens: Consider the complete customer journey, map experiences, identify pain points and proactively recommend solutions

Contribute to our design system: Create new components, improve existing patterns and work closely with engineers to maintain consistency between design and development

Run research end to end: Plan, facilitate and synthesise customer research, selecting the right methods and sharing insights across the wider team

Plan and facilitate workshops: Create clear agendas, use appropriate frameworks, keep sessions focused and turn discussions into clear actions and next steps

Interrogate briefs before you design: Build a full understanding of the problem, challenge assumptions and connect design decisions to both customer and business goals

Own your workload and outcomes: Manage your projects day to day, communicate progress, take ownership of blockers and bring in senior support when needed

Build accessibility in from the start: Apply accessibility principles consistently and independently, auditing your designs against WCAG 2.2 AA

Share your craft: Continue developing your own design practice while sharing knowledge and helping raise design capability across the team.‎

What You'll Bring:

We think this role would be great for somebody with solid mobile app design experience and a genuinely customer-centred approach. You’ll also bring:
  • Relevant industry experience: Experience designing digital products within home energy, including solar, battery storage, heat pumps or EV charging, or another complex, hardware-adjacent environment

  • A strong portfolio: Examples of polished, user-centred design, thoughtful problem solving and clear outcomes, ideally within mobile products

  • Solid design fundamentals: A strong understanding of mobile usability, interaction patterns and accessibility standards, including WCAG

  • Independence with support: Confidence owning projects while knowing when to bring in senior support for larger or more complex challenges

  • Facilitation and communication skills: The ability to run productive workshops, adapt your style to different audiences and proactively communicate progress and blockers

  • Comfort with data and AI: Experience using metrics, data and testing to improve designs, alongside an understanding of where AI tools can add value and where their limitations lie

  • Attention to detail and organisation: Strong ownership of project outcomes with the ability to identify conflicts and risks early

  • Strong engineering collaboration: The ability to work closely with engineers, understand technical constraints and make pragmatic design decisions

  • A customer-centred approach: You ground your decisions in customer insight, research and real user behaviour rather than assumptions.
