About WorkOS 🚀

WorkOS builds modern developer tools and APIs that make it easy for companies to become Enterprise Ready. Our platform powers authentication, identity, authorization, and other critical infrastructure that developers need to securely scale their products to large organizations.

We recently raised a $100M Series C, valuing the company at $2B, led by Meritech and Sapphire with participation from Greenoaks, Craft, Abstract, and Audacious. WorkOS powers enterprise features for many of the fastest-growing AI companies, including OpenAI, Cursor, and Perplexity, Sierra, and Plaid.

As AI reshapes software, WorkOS is at the frontier of Human and Agent Authentication, Identity, and Access Control helping companies answer a new critical question: who are your agents, and what are they allowed to do? Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products.

About the role 💭

The Pipes & Vault team is responsible for building products that connect third-party data, services, and secrets to applications and AI agents. They form a backbone of data infrastructure and agentic workflows for our customers:

  • Pipes connects external data sources to our customers’ apps and agents

  • Vault secures credentials and secrets that are used across fleets of agents

  • Pipes MCP defines authority for agents to take action through integrations

Unique to this team is that we also lead internal R&D efforts that leverage our products in novel ways. Examples include an agentic BI tool built on top of Pipes that reimagines how our support teams gets customer insights from internal data lakes, and a new web framework for apps with enterprise-grade security as the default.

You'll work across a wide surface area, designing APIs for integrations, building secure storage and key management systems, contributing to open-source specs, and prototyping entirely new developer tools. Engineers on this team care deeply about reliability, security, and developer experience, and move quickly between shipped product work and exploratory R&D.

Responsibilities ✔️

  • Design and build APIs, data connectors, and real-time pipelines that power Pipes and Pipes MCP

  • Architect systems for encryption, secure storage, key rotation, and secret management in Vault

  • Contribute to the Pipes MCP specification, defining how agents are granted scoped authority over integrations

  • Develop a deep understanding of the integrations and data infrastructure landscape and shape product direction across the team's portfolio

  • Expand product scope through value-add features based on customer input

  • Work closely with customers to understand integration, security, and compliance requirements

  • Collaborate with other product teams, solutions engineering, and our go-to-market team

  • Work directly with leadership on greenfield ideas

  • Help recruit and assess future engineering team members

Qualifications 🌟

  • 5+ years of industry software development experience

  • Experience working on small teams in fast-paced environments

  • Background in building systems that solve for security, encryption, storage, multi-tenant data isolation, or large-scale data platforms

  • Intellectually curious, independently driven, and passionate about great products

  • A growth mindset, high emotional intelligence, and strong communication skills

  • Bonus: Experience with our stack of TypeScript, React, and Postgres

  • Bonus: Experience in B2B SaaS, developer tools, or a related industry

Questions you could be asked

  1. How do you decide when an AI agent can act on its own versus asking for approval first?
  2. Walk me through how you've used OpenAI in your day-to-day work.
  3. What are the limits of Perplexity that you've run into, and how did you work around them?
  4. What's a project where you used Cursor hands-on?
  5. Walk me through how you've used Sierra in your day-to-day work.

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: AI agents, OpenAI, Perplexity, Cursor, and Sierra. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
