As a Product Manager, you'll have a unique opportunity to shape Personal Current Accounts, one of Nationwide’s most important products. Joining at a pivotal moment, you’ll help define future strategy and deliver meaningful outcomes through an insight-led, commercial approach that balances strong member experiences with great outcomes for the Society.

Working across customer acquisition, account primacy, relationship deepening and proposition development, you'll play a key role in designing and evolving products that meet changing member needs, stand out in a competitive market, and provide fairer, more rewarding experiences. Whether your strengths lie in commercial strategy, pricing, data-led decision making, or customer-focused innovation, you'll have the freedom to influence the future of our proposition and make a tangible impact for millions of members through simply brilliant service.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will be a regular requirement to attend our Swindon site approximately once per month. If you are based at an office location, you'll be expected to meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week, or 40% of your working time if part-time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

You'll have the opportunity to shape and deliver product strategies that drive meaningful outcomes for both customers and the business. Working within empowered, cross-functional teams, you'll turn insights into action, balancing customer needs, commercial value and feasibility to make confident decisions and create lasting impact. From identifying emerging opportunities and understanding market trends to developing innovative propositions, you'll play a key role in shaping the future direction of the product.

Using data, customer insight and commercial analysis, you'll assess opportunities, test ideas and refine solutions based on evidence and learning. You'll translate strategic thinking into viable propositions through experimentation, pricing and financial modelling, while bringing colleagues from Product, Technology, Digital, Marketing, Finance, Risk and Operations together around shared goals. Taking ownership from opportunity through to delivery, you'll simplify complexity, influence senior stakeholders and ensure ideas become measurable outcomes that make a real difference.

About you

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can demonstrate:

  • Experience shaping and delivering product strategies, propositions or customer-focused solutions, ideally within a regulated industry

  • Strong commercial acumen, including building business cases, evaluating cost and value trade-offs, and using data and customer insight to support decision-making

  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, solve complex problems and translate insights into tangible customer and commercial outcomes

  • Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups, influencing decisions, driving collaboration and creating shared accountability

  • Confidence communicating complex ideas through clear, compelling presentations, papers and recommendations for senior stakeholders

  • Understanding of risk, governance and regulatory requirements, with knowledge of Consumer Duty or experience operating in a regulated environment

  • A track record of balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, making informed decisions in ambiguous situations and adapting quickly to change

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
