AI in this role
As a Product Manager within the Global Platform Engineering team, your main responsibility will be to help shape, prioritise and drive the products and capabilities that enable our technology teams to work more effectively at scale.
We want someone who is passionate about building great products and solving meaningful problems for our customers. You will work alongside engineering teams and technology leaders to understand customer needs, turn those needs into clear product priorities and help our teams focus on the things that deliver the greatest value.
We view our platforms as products and our users as customers. That means looking beyond simply delivering projects or requirements. You will help define where our products need to go, how we prioritise competing demands and, importantly, how we know whether what we have delivered has actually made a difference.
You will work across a large and complex technology organisation, balancing customer demand, engineering priorities, strategic commitments, risk, technical debt and opportunities for innovation. You will help bring these together into a clear product strategy and roadmap that people can understand and get behind.
You will not be expected to have all the answers on day one. We are looking for someone who is curious, willing to challenge the status quo and comfortable learning. We want people who think big, start small and continuously improve the products and experiences we provide.
What you’ll do:
- Own and help define the vision, strategy and roadmap for products within Global Platform Engineering
- Understand our customers, their problems and how they use our platforms and services
- Work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, Operations and other partners to turn customer problems into product opportunities
- Build strong relationships across our internal customer community and ensure their voice influences product decisions
- Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing customer value, strategic priorities, risk, technical debt and engineering investment
- Develop and maintain product roadmaps that connect engineering investment to customer and business outcomes
- Partner with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery and design through delivery, adoption and continuous improvement
- Promote self-service, automation and standardisation to make our platforms simpler and easier for customers to consume
- Help develop and maintain our product catalogue so customers can clearly understand the capabilities and services available to them
- Communicate product strategy, priorities, trade-offs and progress clearly to senior stakeholders
- Champion a product culture across Platform Engineering, helping teams move from delivering requirements to solving customer problems
Who you are:
- You think like a Product Manager, starting with the customer problem rather than immediately jumping to a solution
- You understand that collaboration and relationship building are fundamental to getting things done in a large organisation
- You are comfortable working with engineers and can translate between technical conversations, customer needs and business outcomes
- You are curious and want to understand why something is needed before deciding what should be built
- You can bring structure to competing demands and make clear, evidence-based prioritisation decisions
- You understand that a roadmap is about outcomes and direction, not simply a list of projects and delivery dates
- You use data, feedback and customer insight to make informed decisions
- You take accountability, think big, start small and own it, while understanding that the best products evolve iteratively
Essentials:
- Batchlor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
- Overall, 10+ years of work experience
- Extensive experience in virtualisation, infrastructure platforms, and cloud within a global enterprise (financial services preferred)
- Proven track record of leading platform engineering and operations at scale
- Proven experience in Product Management, including product strategy, roadmaps and backlog prioritisation
- Strong customer-focused mindset, with experience turning customer needs into product solutions and outcomes
- Experience working closely with Engineering and technical teams in a complex technology environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including working with senior stakeholders
- Ability to make data-driven prioritisation decisions, balancing customer value, business priorities, risk and technical considerations
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills
