About the role:
Purpose of the Role:
Embed practical governance and stewardship for enterprise DA&I so data is owned, understood, trusted and used consistently. The role converts enterprise policies into clear accountabilities, controls and adoption mechanisms; it does not own source-system operations or make business data decisions on behalf of domain owners.
Key Accountabilities:
• Own the specialist roadmap: Set the standards, backlog and delivery plan for report governance lead, aligned to enterprise architecture, governance and the priorities of the accountable manager.
• Activate ownership and stewardship: Clarify domain accountabilities, onboard owners and stewards, and establish practical forums, escalation routes and operating routines.
• Embed governance by design: Translate policy into delivery controls, approval points and evidence requirements across products, platforms and analytical solutions.
• Measure compliance and trust: Define indicators for ownership, policy adoption, data quality and remediation; surface gaps and drive accountable action.
• Build sustainable capability: Provide playbooks, coaching and communities that enable consistent governance without creating unnecessary process burden.
Key Competencies:
• Pragmatic data governance: Turns policy and standards into workable roles, controls and behaviours.
• Evidence-led problem solving: Uses quality, adoption and risk evidence to identify root causes and prioritise action.
• Federated influence: Builds accountability across business and technical owners in a matrixed environment.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data governance, ownership and stewardship, quality, metadata, lineage, cataloguing and policy implementation, including accountability in a complex global or multi-market organisation.
• Demonstrated delivery of measurable outcomes in a scope comparable to Report Governance Lead, with clear ownership of decisions, priorities and stakeholder alignment.
• Proven ability to work across business, product and technology teams in a matrixed or federated operating model.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the judgement to influence senior stakeholders and escalate material risks clearly.
• Practical understanding of data governance, security, privacy, responsible use and financial discipline relevant to the role.
Desirable
• Experience in consumer goods, retail or another complex multi-market enterprise.
• Experience with modern cloud data, analytics or AI platforms and product-led delivery methods.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant business, data, technology, engineering or design discipline.
