Reporting to the Discipline Manager, you will step up and into a dedicated project team. You will thrive on the challenge of balancing technical, team, client, and project delivery by:

  • Working across mature offshore oil and gas production facilities, with a focus on greenfield & brownfield engineering, asset integrity, redevelopment, and life extension
  • Developing and producing instrumentation and control design deliverables including instrument layouts, cable routing drawings, junction box layouts, hook-up drawings, instrument installation details, cable schedules, loop drawings and associated design documentation
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of 3D instrumentation models and participating in model reviews to ensure compliance with project and client requirements
  • Representing the instrumentation design discipline in design reviews, HAZOPs, HazIDs and LOPA workshops as required

Your dual focus on relationships and delivery will be essential. Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will contribute to technical excellence and quality on the instrumentation design portion of the project, while supporting effective multidisciplinary coordination. You will also work in close partnership with other disciplines and the client to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and asset portfolio.

You will bring to life Wood's three pillar strategy of Inspired Culture, Delivery Excellence and Profitable Growth on the project. In addition, you will:

  • Be recognized as an experienced Instrument Designer with extensive knowledge of instrumentation and control design principles, industry standards and drafting practices, with experience delivering within a challenging and complex multi-discipline environment.
  • Have significant experience developing instrumentation design deliverables including instrument location plans, cable routing layouts, instrument installation details, junction box layouts, control system layouts, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams and associated design documentation.
  • Have a professional level of knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation with an ability to apply relevant technical practices, codes, and standards.
  • Be highly proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation for the preparation of 2D instrumentation and control design deliverables.
  • Have hands-on experience using 3D design and modelling applications including SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), AVEVA E3D, PDS, PDMS and other AVEVA software platforms for multidisciplinary design coordination and model reviews.
  • Be commercially astute with a “solutions mindset”, skilled in the management of risk during the design process consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements.
  • Be an articulate communicator (both written and verbal) including well-developed technical report writing and professional presentation skills.

Have excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and instrumentation design software.

What will set you apart will be your previous instrumentation design experience for major offshore greenfield & brownfield Oil & Gas projects. Exposure to projects in the Middle East is advantageous but not essential.

It takes a diverse and inclusive community of inquisitive minds to unlock tomorrow's solutions to the world's most critical challenges.
