Lab Summary:

The Robot Intelligence Lab at Samsung Research America is a new facility dedicated to advancing the field of robotics through cutting-edge research and development. The lab’s mission is to develop advanced technologies to power intelligent robotic systems capable of manipulation, navigation, and complex reasoning for a variety of high-impact application areas. To achieve this mission, the lab collaborates closely with external entities such as universities, startups, and government labs, as well as with several Samsung Product and Advanced Research labs.

Position Summary:

The Robot Intelligence Lab at Samsung Research America (SRA) is building the foundational "brains" for the next generation of intelligent, physical robots. We are looking for a Senior Simulation Software Engineer to design and scale our cloud-hosted, high-performance simulation pipeline.

In this role, you will act as the critical engineering pillar of our lab—collaborating closely with world-class AI researchers to transition cutting-edge algorithms (manipulation, locomotion, and VLA models) from mathematical concepts into robust, physical-world realities. If you are passionate about optimizing GPU-accelerated simulators (like IsaacSim/MuJoCo), building robust C++/Rust/Python components, and deploying massive cloud-based training workflows to close the simulation-to-reality gap, this is your playground.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop Python, C++ and Rust components of a robotics simulation pipeline including asset conversion, asset management, simulation harness, cloud deployment, telemetry, replay, evaluations and comprehensive tests
  • Own developed software components through entire lifecycle from concept to prototype to general internal availability
  • Profile and optimize code performance to improve simulation latency and throughput
  • Collaborate with researchers and research engineers to develop cutting edge robotics algorithms across various embodiments in simulation
  • Collaborate on engineering roadmap development for the overall Robot Intelligence Lab
  • Maintain release workflow and regular release cadence for partner teams
  • Support reproducible AI development environments and cloud-based training workflows in collaboration with researchers

Required Skills:

  • MS degree in CS/EE/Robotics, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5+ years of experience conducting state-of-the-art robotics R&D
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, with experience developing and maintaining Linux-based software
  • Experience with robotics simulation frameworks such as IsaacSim, Gazebo, PyBullet or MuJoCo
  • Familiarity with scene description formats such as URDF, SDFormat or USD
  • Experience designing software components and defining clear interfaces within complex systems
  • Experience developing or integrating with cloud-hosted services and data pipelines
  • Practical experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
  • Ability to establish maintainable engineering practices while supporting fast-moving research
  • Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and documentation skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Developed robotic manipulation or locomotion simulation environments, tasks and controllers or policies
  • Trained or fine-tuned neural network robot policies in PyTorch, IsaacLab or MJLab
  • Developed physics or 3D rendering components for simulators
  • Developed CUDA/ Warp software components; profiled and optimized GPU kernels
  • Deployed services in Amazon Web Services platform

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Robotics, Simulation, GPU Optimization, Cloud Deployment, and Algorithms. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
  • Lead with what you built, trained or shipped. This role is judged on the AI system itself, not the tools around it.
