Senior Software Developer, Defence
Join our Sitaware Extensions Program and help deliver customised integrations and extensions to Systematic's defence product suite, from sensor interfaces to radio drivers. As Senior Software Developer, you will combine software design, implementation and testing in a close-knit team working in an exciting domain.
The job
You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality integrations and extensions, from requirements analysis through software design, implementation and testing. Beyond hands-on development, you will help apply and improve our development process, and share your knowledge to support the team's growth.
In short, you can look forward to:
- Designing, implementing, documenting and debugging features, working primarily on back-end development (Java) and occasionally on front-end development (Angular)
- Analysing requirements, breaking them into technical tasks, and clarifying acceptance criteria
- Implementing and troubleshooting interfaces to hardware and external systems, such as sensors and radio interfaces
- Developing and maintaining unit and integration tests, and designing for testability
- Identifying issues and recommending improvements to code, tooling, pipelines and processes
Joining the team
You will be part of the Product Extension Team of around seven developers, test engineers and architects, part of the Sitaware Extensions Program within Defence Services. The team delivers customised integrations and extensions to Systematic's defence product suite, focusing on software- and hardware-related integrations such as sensor interfaces, radio drivers and interoperability with external systems, and continuously improves its own testing and development practices, methods and tools. This is a newly created position, so you will have real scope to shape how the role develops as the team continues to grow.
Your qualifications
To succeed in this role, you bring several years of software development experience gained in a structured, team-based environment, along with:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Technology or similar
- Hands-on experience with Java (or a related object-oriented technology) for backend development, and Angular (or a similar modern framework) for frontend development
- Fluent English; Danish is a nice-to-have
Alongside this, we value:
- Strong analytical abilities, with a focused and open mindset
- The ability to communicate intent and purpose clearly, both in writing and conversation
- Enjoys collaborating closely within a cross-functional team
Onboarding includes two three-day stays in Aarhus, and you should expect occasional travel of around two to ten days a year, mostly within Europe. Some onsite hardware testing may also be required, depending on integration needs.
Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
