MEET THE TEAM

Cisco delivers the critical infrastructure that helps organizations thrive in the AI era. By fusing networking, security, observability, and collaboration, we power how people and technology work together. Within Cisco, the Collaboration Employee Experience organization builds workspace solutions that connect people, places, and experiences.

Located just outside of Oslo, our Devices innovation center is home to 300+ passionate engineers working across hardware, software, mechanics, audio, media processing and artificial intelligence - from concept to product. We strive to create the best-in-class video conferencing experiences by bringing together diverse engineering fields under one roof.

The Core Application team is looking for a dedicated test automation engineer. We own many of the shared software modules that every Cisco collaboration device depends on. When a device starts up, connects securely to the network, pairs with its peripherals or upgrades its software, our code is doing the work. You will join a team of experienced engineers and bring dedicated test expertise to a team where quality is already a shared responsibility.

Your impact

You are a software engineer with a test mindset and a passion for quality. You enjoy finding weaknesses in complex systems and writing automated tests to catch them.

In this role you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain automated tests in Python for Core Application features, from single services to complete devices.
  • Test complex system setups with devices, peripherals, network switches and different network topologies.
  • Build and run performance, stability and robustness tests, and track results over time.
  • Build and maintain our lab and test benches, both hardware and software.
  • Analyze logs and network traffic to find the root cause of failures.
  • Use AI-based tools to work efficiently and improve our test coverage.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of professional software development experience using Python.
  • Experience writing automated tests.

Preferred qualifications

  • Good understanding of networking, from common protocols to switches and network topologies.
  • Experience testing embedded software or hardware-dependent systems.
  • Experience with Linux, preferably embedded Linux (systemd, shell, debugging on target).
  • Comfortable with using Git and code review workflows.
  • Interest or experience in using AI tools (e.g. LLMs, AI agents) in software development or testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and good communication skills.
