The Role

Join Proofpoint’s Cloud Integrations team to build and own secure, scalable shared services. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you’ll drive technical decisions, stay hands-on with implementation, collaborate across teams, and mentor engineers.

You will build reliable, shared capabilities that accelerate cloud integrations and deliver a consistent customer experience across Proofpoint products

What You’ll Do

• Own significant services and product capabilities through their lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, observability, production support, and continuous improvement

• Drive delivery from customer or business need to measurable production outcome, proactively addressing dependencies, risks, and operational gaps

• Design, build, and operate secure, highly available, multi-tenant cloud services and distributed data-processing systems

• Make practical design decisions that balance customer value, reliability, performance, security, cost, maintainability, and delivery speed

• Remain hands-on through implementation, design and code reviews, production troubleshooting, and technical validation

• Create and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated quality gates, rollback mechanisms, observability, and safe, incremental production rollouts

• Define and improve service-level objectives, actionable metrics, dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and operational readiness

• Participate in incident response and drive durable corrective actions

• Use AI-assisted engineering and automation responsibly to accelerate development, testing, debugging, documentation, and operations while maintaining appropriate human review, security controls, and production validation

• Contribute technical leadership through clear design documents, thoughtful reviews, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and constructive collaboration across teams.
  
  

What You Bring to the Team

• Substantial software engineering experience, including demonstrated senior-level impact in complex production environments

• Experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available distributed systems and data services

• Ability to independently lead complex technical work, make sound trade-offs, and communicate decisions clearly

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native platforms, containers, and orchestration

• Experience with data modelling, relational databases, performance tuning, and resilient data-processing patterns

• Practical experience with automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, incident response, and secure software delivery

• Strong software design fundamentals, API and integration design skills, and a disciplined approach to quality, operability, security, and maintainability

• Clear written and verbal communication and an ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, security, infrastructure, and operations partners

• A continuous-learning mindset and a team-oriented approach that values mentoring, constructive feedback, and shared success.

Desirable

• Experience Expertise in Go or comparable experience in another modern backend language with the ability to become productive in Go

• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code technologies

• Experience with time-series database such as Influx DB and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or comparable technologies

• Experience defining service-level objectives, supporting incremental production rollouts, and contributing to secure software supply-chain practices

• Experience using AI-assisted engineering and automation to accelerate development, automate repetitive workflows, improve testing and delivery, and increase the reliability and efficiency of cloud services.
