Staff - AI Experience Designer

We're looking for a Staff AI Experience Designer to shape the future of AI-powered and data-driven experiences in Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics team. 

You will join a multidisciplinary team of AI Designers, Researchers, and Service Designers to transform complex AI capabilities into intuitive experiences. You will work in cross-functional product teams, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and business stakeholders, to drive meaningful outcomes for customers and ING colleagues. In this role, you'll lead the design of AI products and services across discovery and delivery, turning complex operational and technical challenges into experiences that are intuitive, efficient, and meaningful. This is a senior individual contributor role. You'll be expected to drive AI Experience strategy for a domain, influence product direction, and lead complex initiatives. 

What you'll be accountable for: 

Drive AI Design strategy and product direction 

• Define and evolve the AI experience vision for analytics products and journeys. 

• Identify opportunities where design, data, and AI can improve customer and operational outcomes. 

• Translate business strategy into actionable AI Design strategies, priorities, and measurable outcomes. 

• Align stakeholders around a shared understanding of user needs and business goals.  

Lead end-to-end AI design 

• Own the full AI design process from discovery through implementation. 

• Conduct and synthesize user research, stakeholder interviews, and service investigations. 

• Create journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. 

• Validate advanced analytics concepts through testing, experimentation, and data-driven iteration.  

Solve complex service and workflow challenges 

• Design experiences that span multiple teams, systems, and operational processes. 

• Simplify complex financial and operational workflows into intuitive user experiences. 

• Balance user needs, business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technical constraints. 

• Drive consistency across products and experiences within your domain. 

Elevate design across WBAA 

• Act as a role model for AI design excellence and user-centered thinking. 

• Mentor designers and contribute to the growth of the AI Design CoE. 

• Influence decision-making through research, storytelling, and evidence-based recommendations. 

• Help define and improve AI design practices, frameworks, and standards.  

What success looks like 

After 12 months, you have: 

• Established a clear AI Experience vision for key products and journeys. 

• Delivered measurable improvements to user and business outcomes. 

• Influenced strategic product decisions through customer insights and design expertise. 

• Successfully led complex cross-functional initiatives from discovery through delivery. 

• Increased AI design maturity and adoption of user-centered practices across the domain. 

• Become a trusted partner to Product, Engineering, Data Science, and business stakeholders. 

What we're looking for 

• 8+ years of experience in Experience, Product, or Service Design. 

• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end AI design ownership and measurable impact. 

• Proven expertise in complex systems, workflows, and enterprise products. 

• Deep experience in user research, interaction design, prototyping, and validation. 

• Strong proficiency with Figma and modern AI-driven design methodologies. 

• Ability to influence without formal authority and navigate complex stakeholder environments. 

• Experience working with AI, data products, analytics, or financial services is a strong plus. 

• Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills.
