We are seeking an Engineering Manager who can thing big and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while ensuring our customers continue to have the best experience possible!

A successful Systems Development Manager joining the team will lead a team to work closely with Amazon's largest and most demanding government customers to address their specific needs across a suite of Analytics services in air-gapped cloud environments. You understand networking technology and how servers and networks inter-relate. You are comfortable facilitating deep-dive troubleshooting and leading technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
Love to solve problems. The ideal candidate will love leading teams to solve difficult technical problems related to AWS service builds and operations in air-gapped cloud environments. You have a solid understanding of systems design, operations, automation, and process improvement.
Think Big. The ideal candidate will lead projects building and deploying solutions across ADC partitions and regions. You will strive build a culture to improve and streamline processes to allow for work on a massive scale.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
As a leader you will:
- Hire, motivate, mentor and develop a team of engineers, promoting growth and opportunity
- Define the structure and strategy for the team determining the right mix of engineers and where they need to be allocated to meet the business goals.
- Establish a roadmap and successfully deliver engineering solutions that execute that vision. Your roadmap influences the organizational goals and you are involved in the yearly planning process.
- Provide your team with the necessary support to take responsibility for team systems end-to-end (design, code quality, system health).
- Develop senior engineers promoting growth and opportunities to demonstrate higher level role scope, impact, complexity, and leadership.
- Work cross functionally to foster a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of contentious issues.
- Be an operational leader: Take a data driven approach consistently utilizing metrics to measure performance gaps and increase productivity by improving processes at the local level while driving improvements on the global scale.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Proficiency in Linux based operating systems
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or web services
- Experience in managing large scale infrastructure and automation
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above

Preferred qualifications

- Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure products that support Tier-1 mission critical services with a focus on privacy, security, availability, and efficiency
- 3+ years of managing an engineering team operating at scale experience
- Expertise in Linux based operating systems
- Experience developing and improving operational documentation, procedures and workflows

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
