Job Title: Technology Product Owner
Location: Bangalore
Business & Team: CTO
Impact & Contribution:
At CommBank, we’re reimagining how technology is built, modernised and operated across the bank. As technology, AI and engineering practices evolve rapidly, we are building products and platforms that help our developers and engineers deliver better outcomes, faster and more safely.
We’re looking for a Tech Product Owner — an outcome-focused product leader who combines strong product thinking with technical curiosity and understands how to turn technology strategy and customer needs into products that developers value and want to use.
You’ll own and evolve strategic technology products such as Lumos, the Integrated Development Platform, and other CTO-led engineering and modernisation capabilities. You’ll ensure these products have a clear vision, goals and measurable outcomes, remain aligned with our technology and AI strategy, and continuously evolve as our customers, technology and organisational priorities change.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Define the product vision, goals and roadmap, aligned to Crew objectives and purpose, and engage with key stakeholders to manage technical delivery.
- Maintain a healthy and prioritised backlog to deliver business and customer outcomes while minimising tech debt that is slowing down engineers.
- Utilise strong knowledge of software engineering methodology to ensure systems are loosely coupled, fit-for-purpose, and comply with technical requirements.
- Support the team with troubleshooting activities.
- Apply both product and engineering expertise to balance the backlog of work between features, defects, debts, and risk to balance platform health against future flow of work and immediate customer needs.
- Identify, articulate and manage risks, dependencies and compliance across streams of work.
- Drive product exploration, and formulate hypothesises to validate product strategy and design.
- Define the technology / architecture roadmap underpinning the product, aligned to Crew Tech Lead objectives, minimising tech debt and promoting the fast flow of value.
Essential Skills:
- 5+ Years of strong experience in DevOps and delivery pipelines, working collaboratively across engineering teams to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
- Ability to contribute to product roadmapping and prioritisation, partnering with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
- Advanced understanding of customer and user experience practices, with a strong focus on customer-centric outcomes.
- Advanced capability in AI-powered engineering, applying AI effectively within modern engineering practices.
- Demonstrates curiosity and continuous learning, actively sharing knowledge and learning from others.
- knowledge of software design and architecture, collaborating with engineering teams on scalable and sustainable solutions.
- Ability to navigate product and engineering trade-offs and contribute to balanced technical and business decisions.
- Demonstrates strong judgement, considering customer, product, engineering, and organisational outcomes.
- Advanced experience with experimentation-driven product development, using feedback and insights to continuously improve products.
- Strong customer empathy, bringing the customer perspective into product and engineering discussions.
- Commitment to continuous learning and collaboration, contributing to a culture of shared knowledge and improvement.
Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
