Transit Representative

Key Accountabilities

• Work closely with the clearing agents to ensure smooth clearance of the shipments, by checking the received documents, chasing the necessary payments and constant follow up of the process.
• Monitor the correct status of the import/export containers and report for any deviations.
• Ensure that all transit movements are closed accordingly within the given timeframes and the bond is acquitted correctly.
• Ensure all transit documents are collected and properly filed for audit and customs inspection purposes.
• Be proactive and assist to the transit supervisor for any task required, for achieving the company goals in full accordance with the Customs laws and procedures
• Contribute for the HSSE environment.
• Comply with safety regulations.
• Follows all safety procedures required by Legislation and Company policies and procedures.
• Identify and report any hazards that can compromise the safety in the company operations.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Previous experience in similar positions an advantage.
• People’s skills: The Customs officer needs to have the right skills to be able to relate well with government personnel.
• Good communication skills – both oral and written.
• Computer proficiency: The Customs officer must be able to operate the computer.
• Good management skills, and the ability to pay attention to details.
• Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Be proactive and responsible.
• Ability to handle pressure.
• Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
• Possess administrative skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
• High attention to detail.
