Job Description:
The UI/UX Designer is an experienced design professional responsible for creating intuitive, accessible, and effective digital experiences that solve complex business and user problems.
This role leads user experience and interface design across products from discovery through delivery, translating business requirements, user needs, and technical constraints into user journeys, interaction models, prototypes, and production-ready designs.
The role serves as a UI/UX subject-matter expert, partnering closely with product management, engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders while establishing design standards, mentoring team members, and improving design quality across products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end UX/UI design for complex enterprise applications and digital products.
- Translate business problems and user needs into user journeys, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity experiences.
- Conduct or facilitate user research, stakeholder interviews, usability testing, and design validation.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into actionable design recommendations.
- Create intuitive interaction patterns for traditional applications, data-rich experiences, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Establish and maintain reusable design patterns, components, and design-system standards.
- Ensure experiences meet usability, accessibility, consistency, and responsive-design expectations.
- Partner with Product Management and business stakeholders to define problems, prioritize user needs, and shape product solutions.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure design intent is understood, technically feasible, and implemented with high quality.
- Facilitate design reviews and provide constructive guidance to designers, product teams, and engineers.
- Mentor less-experienced designers and contribute to the continued maturity of UX/UI practices.
- Balance user experience, business value, technical feasibility, delivery timelines, and organizational standards.
- Advocate for user-centered design throughout the product development lifecycle.
This responsibility profile is consistent with UPS's internal Designer maturity material, which emphasizes advanced UX/UI work, prototyping, user research, synthesis of findings, product-team collaboration, design guidance, and connecting design decisions to business value.
