AI in this role

GovTech is the lead agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation initiative and public sector digital transformation. We harness the power of technology to make lives better for citizens, businesses, international audiences and the public service sector.

Digital Economy Products (DEP) is a division within GovTech run like a modern product company, solving important underserved problems spanning across Healthcare, Manpower, Trade-Industry-Finance, National Development, and Sustainability sectors.

Designers at DEP are key to our success. They work closely with product managers, researchers, software engineers, and public sector stakeholders, bringing purposeful ideas to life with excellent visual and interaction design, skillfully shaping how users feel when using our services.

About the product

Through the GreenGov initiative, the government has committed to the public its aim to achieve net-zero emissions by approximately 2045. Furthermore, it has established clear and measurable milestones to facilitate progress across all agencies. Since the year 2021, agencies have utilised the eGreenGov portal, which is housed within the National Environment Agency’s Waste and Resource Management System (WRMS), to report various environmental data of their respective premises.

The Public Sector Sustainability Office (PSSO) reviews the progress of agencies, provides updates to the Cabinet, and produces the annual GreenGov report championing the GreenGov initiative. They intend to help agencies identify opportunities to improve resource efficiency and climate resilience, and partner them to streamline the process of implementing these improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand PSSO’s mission and users’ needs

  • Create mockups and intuitive user flows that drive climate action at scale

  • Test early designs with users; iterate with feedback

  • Create detailed user interface specifications

  • Guide engineers in implementing your designs

  • Execute overall aesthetics that align with branding and design principles

  • Help progressively build and adapt a design system, that scales and flexes across a variety of user groups for the product

As a designer on this product, you’ll also get to learn and experiment with green design practices, taking a truly systemic approach towards responsible design and tech for public good.

We’re looking for a designer with:

  • Demonstrated ability in interaction and visual design — ideally 5+ years of experience in digital design

  • Great visual design sense and eye for detail

  • User- and data-focused design mentality

  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience building responsive and accessible designs

  • Communicate well with users and engineers

  • A “can-do” attitude

  • Want to work for public good — respectfully pushing back if something is not in the public’s interest, including that of the environment.

These will be a plus:

  • Experience creating a simple and elegant design system

  • Interest in continually growing your visual design craft

  • Strong belief and drive for sustainability is a plus!

Overall, we look for people who are collaborative, value open communications, and take initiative to improve things.

GovTech is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diverse voices and perspectives, as we believe it is key to innovation.

Our employee benefits are based on a total rewards approach, offering a holistic and market-competitive suite of perks.

We champion flexible work arrangements (subject to your job role) and trust you to manage your time to deliver your best.
