About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

Anthropic's Infrastructure organization builds and operates the compute that trains and serves our frontier models. Behind every cluster is a physical supply chain: servers, accelerators, networking equipment, spares, and tooling that have to be received, inspected, secured, tracked, and delivered to the right site at the right time. The Warehousing and Logistics team owns that flow, and this role runs its day-to-day operations in the US.

As Warehouse and Logistics Manager, you'll report to our Global Warehousing and Logistics Lead and own the operational management of all direct and third party logistics providers) of inbound receiving, storage, inventory control, kitting, and outbound shipments to our data center sites and partners. You'll manage the relationships and performance of our third-party warehouses, carriers, and freight forwarders, and you'll be the person on the ground when a shipment is late, a pallet arrives damaged, or a site needs a critical spare tomorrow morning.

This is a hands-on operational role on a small team, so you'll move between running the daily floor rhythm and building the processes, controls, and metrics that let us scale as our hardware footprint grows. You should be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information, communicating clearly with engineers and vendors alike, and holding a high bar for accuracy and chain of custody on high-value, security-sensitive equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations across locations in North America, including receiving, inspection, put-away, storage, cycle counting, kitting, and outbound fulfillment to data center sites for the Anthropic owned warehouse and those run by Anthropic’s partners/ third party logistics providers

  • Own inventory accuracy and asset tracking for all infrastructure hardware, compute, MEP, spares, and consumables, maintaining clear chain of custody from dock to rack

  • Plan and execute domestic freight and coordinate international shipments, selecting carriers, managing schedules, and resolving exceptions such as delays, damage, and shortages

  • Manage third-party logistics providers, carriers, and freight forwarders, including onboarding, service-level tracking, performance reviews, and cost management

  • Coordinate closely with data center operations, hardware engineering, procurement, and security teams to align delivery schedules with deployment timelines and site readiness

  • Operate reverse logistics for returns, RMAs, and end-of-life equipment, including secure handling and disposition of storage devices in partnership with security and compliance

  • Build and document standard operating procedures, checklists, and controls for warehouse and shipping activities, and train warehouse staff and vendors on them

  • Maintain compliance with safety, hazardous materials, export control, and customs requirements for the equipment we handle

  • Define and report on operational metrics such as receiving cycle time, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and freight cost, and use them to drive continuous improvement

  • Support capacity planning for warehouse space, staffing, and equipment as our hardware volumes and site count grow

Minimum qualifications

  • Experience managing warehouse or logistics operations for physical goods, including receiving, inventory control, and outbound shipping

  • Hands-on experience with a warehouse management or inventory management system, and comfort working in spreadsheets to analyze inventory and shipment data

  • Experience managing third-party logistics providers or carriers, including negotiating service levels and holding vendors accountable to them

  • Working knowledge of domestic freight (LTL, FTL, and parcel) and the documentation that goes with it

  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory requirements for shipping and storing IT or electronic equipment, such as hazardous materials rules for lithium batteries

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical teams and external partners

  • Demonstrated ability to build processes from scratch and keep operations running reliably as volume and complexity increase

  • Ability to travel to warehouse and data center sites in the US as needed

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience handling data center or enterprise IT hardware, including servers, GPUs or other accelerators, and networking equipment

  • Experience with international freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and export control requirements such as EAR

  • Experience with secure chain-of-custody programs, asset tagging, and data-bearing device sanitization or destruction

  • Experience directly managing warehouse staff or contract labor

  • Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems and how inventory data flows between them and warehouse systems

  • Experience with lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methods

  • Forklift certification or experience overseeing material handling equipment operations

  • Experience supporting rapid infrastructure buildouts, whether in cloud, telecom, or another hardware-intensive industry

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: AI Safety, AI Research, Logistics, Warehouse Management, and Supply Chain. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
