An AI-proof job, measured rather than guessed, is one where AI is a tool on the side and not the work itself. Of 26,929 live postings at 369 companies, 17,981 (66.8%) sit at Level 1: the posting names AI in passing, or not at all. Those are the jobs listed here, by category, with pay and remote share.

Every prediction about which jobs survive AI is a guess. This page does something smaller and more useful: it reads what employers are hiring for today, at companies that already use AI, and counts. Level reads each posting for the AI tools and tasks it names, then rates it from Level 1 (AI absent or mentioned in passing) to Level 4 (building AI systems is the job). A Level 1 posting at a company that also hires Level 4 engineers is the closest evidence that the role has a future alongside AI: the employer has the technology and still needs the person.

What jobs are safest from AI?

By the share of postings where AI is not the job, the safest categories right now are Healthcare, Content, Legal, HR, and Finance. In each, more than 77% of live postings are at Level 1. These employers use AI elsewhere in the company and still hire people whose work is not AI. Measured September 2026.

The ranking below uses one rule: the share of live postings at Level 1 inside each category, counting only categories with at least 100 live jobs. A high share means the category hires for human work first, with AI as a side tool.

1. Healthcare: 284 live jobs, 93.0% at Level 1, 73.9% remote, median maximum $242,500 on 58 USD postings.
2. Content: 173 live jobs, 91.9% at Level 1, 83.8% remote, median maximum $164,850 on 24 USD postings.
3. Legal: 325 live jobs, 78.8% at Level 1, 49.5% remote, median maximum $265,000 on 165 USD postings.
4. HR: 450 live jobs, 77.1% at Level 1, 47.3% remote, median maximum $191,500 on 180 USD postings.
5. Finance: 720 live jobs, 77.1% at Level 1, 56.1% remote, median maximum $202,000 on 323 USD postings.

Read these numbers as a floor, not a ceiling. A Level 1 posting can still expect you to use ChatGPT or Copilot every day; what it does not expect is building, training, or shipping AI systems. That is the difference between a job AI changes and a job AI replaces.

At the other end, the categories where AI is most often the job itself are Data (10.7% at Level 4), Research (10.0% at Level 4), and Software Engineering (4.8% at Level 4). Those are not unsafe jobs; they are the jobs building the tools. But if you want work that stays human, they are the wrong place to look.

What jobs will AI not take?

The honest answer from 26,929 postings: the jobs employers keep opening while they adopt AI. 17,457 live postings (64.8%) sit outside software engineering, data, research, and security. Sales alone accounts for 5,180 of them. Nobody is automating the people who bring in revenue. Measured September 2026.

Three patterns stand out in the Level 1 postings.

• Jobs that own a relationship. 5,180 live sales roles, 651 in customer support, 450 in HR. AI drafts the email; the person is accountable for the account.
• Jobs that carry a liability. 325 legal postings, 720 in finance, 284 in healthcare. When a mistake has a signature on it, the signature stays human.
• Jobs that run the company. 1,433 operations roles and 1,185 product roles. Coordination between people is still done by people.

One caution on this data: a posting is a decision to hire today, not a promise for 2030. If a category shrinks, it will show up here as fewer live postings month over month, and this page is re-measured monthly so that change will be visible. What the data can say is that in September 2026, the companies most exposed to AI are still hiring 17,981 people for work where AI is not the point.

Which AI-proof jobs pay well?

Level 1 does not mean low pay. On 5,674 Level 1 postings with a USD range, the median maximum salary is $220,000 and the median floor is $160,000. Level 4 postings, where building AI is the job, sit at $246,750 on 385 postings: above Level 1, and not by a multiple. Measured September 2026.

Among the categories where at least 65% of postings are Level 1, the best paid by median maximum are:

1. Legal: $265,000 median maximum, $200,000 median floor, on 165 USD postings.
2. Healthcare: $242,500 median maximum, $187,500 median floor, on 58 USD postings.
3. Sales: $230,000 median maximum, $172,200 median floor, on 1,813 USD postings.
4. Design: $225,600 median maximum, $169,500 median floor, on 242 USD postings.

If working from home matters more than the top of the range, the same Level 1 categories ranked by remote share are Content (83.8% remote), Healthcare (73.9% remote), and Design (60.2% remote). Two cautions on salary. First, only 10,606 postings publish a USD range, so every median here is on a subset. Second, the median is on the posted maximum, which employers tend to state generously. The floor is the number to negotiate from.

What 5 jobs will survive AI?

Measured by hiring rather than prediction, the five most insulated job families are the categories above: Healthcare, Content, Legal, HR, and Finance. Together they hold 1,952 live postings, 1,581 at Level 1 and 6 at Level 4. Each keeps a person accountable for a patient, a contract, a customer, a ledger, or a hire. Measured September 2026.

What the five have in common is not that AI is absent from the company but that the posting still describes a human outcome, and names AI, when it names it at all, as a tool for getting there faster.

1. Healthcare: 264 Level 1 postings out of 284, 20 tagged intern or junior, 1 at Level 4.
2. Content: 159 Level 1 postings out of 173, 3 tagged intern or junior, 1 at Level 4.
3. Legal: 256 Level 1 postings out of 325, 23 tagged intern or junior, 1 at Level 4.
4. HR: 347 Level 1 postings out of 450, 25 tagged intern or junior, 2 at Level 4.
5. Finance: 555 Level 1 postings out of 720, 32 tagged intern or junior, 1 at Level 4.

The Level 4 column is the tell. Across these five categories, 6 postings are for building AI, against 373 in software engineering alone. The companies are not replacing these roles with AI teams; they are hiring AI teams somewhere else in the building and keeping these roles unchanged.

What jobs will be gone by 2030 due to AI?

This catalogue cannot see 2030, and neither can anyone else. What it can see is the leading edge: the categories where AI has already moved from side tool to daily requirement. Today 8,176 postings (30.4%) are at Level 2 or 3, and the share is highest in Research (69.8%), Data (40.5%), and Product (39.4%). Measured September 2026.

Those are the categories to watch, not because the jobs are disappearing but because the job description is being rewritten first. A category that is being replaced rather than reshaped would show three signals at once, and this page is re-measured monthly to catch them: the live count falls, the Level 2 and 3 share rises, and the entry-level share thins out. Today 960 postings (3.6%) are tagged intern or junior, which is the number to compare against next month.
