AI in this role
Own and evolve the Palantir Foundry ontology and data platform to support business operations and AI agents.
Skydio is the leading US drone company and the world leader in autonomous flight, the key technology for the future of drones and aerial mobility. The Skydio team combines deep expertise in artificial intelligence, best-in-class hardware and software product development, operational excellence, and customer obsession to empower a broader, more diverse audience of drone users, from utility inspectors to first responders, soldiers in battlefield scenarios, and beyond.
About the role:
Skydio runs its business on Palantir Foundry. Sales, finance, manufacturing, and operations teams build the apps they work in every day there, and some of that data reaches our customers directly in our products. Underneath all of it is one ontology: the shared business objects, actions, and links that connect our systems - that people and AI agents use to find and act on company data. New use cases for work in Foundry are growing fast, and each one should land on that shared model rather than beside it.
Our Business Data Platform team is hiring a data product manager to help own that ontology and the path from a team's idea to a working use case. You will learn how each part of the business operates, decide what to reuse, extend, or build, and keep the model clean as it grows. You will work closely with our data security engineer so new use cases land in the right place with the right protections. You will report to the head of Business Data Platform.
How you'll make an impact:
Own and evolve the Foundry Ontology with the head of Business Data Platform: the stable business objects, actions, and links between them (accounts, orders, sites, parts, people) that every app and agent builds on, designed so new use cases plug in without rework
Learn how our GTM, finance, manufacturing, and operations teams run, and model it so data from Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, and our other systems connects in one place
Work with leaders to decide what the business needs to see now, and turn it into metrics, dashboards, and apps on the ontology, knowing when to build around imperfect data and when to push for a fix at the source
Run intake for new use cases: help each team define its objects, actions, and who can see and do what, then decide what to reuse, extend, or build, and who builds it, including our Palantir forward deployed engineers
Work with our data security engineer to place each new use case in the right project and access boundary, so teams can build quickly on protected data
Keep the ontology clean and well typed, with clear names, descriptions, and types, so people and AI agents can find the right object and use it correctly. Bring these standards to our cross-functional Data Council
Connect systems through the ontology and its APIs, so internal apps, integrations, and some customer-facing products read and write the same governed data
Lead enablement: run office hours, onboard new teams and builders, and keep documentation current, so people get productive in Foundry and can ship new use cases with little overhead
What makes you a good fit:
3+ years in product management, consulting, or a forward deployed role, ideally at a software company shipping products for customers
You understand how a business runs end to end: how a GTM org sells and forecasts, how finance closes and reports, how manufacturing plans and builds. You do not need to have worked in all of them
You design data models and ontologies: entities, relationships, and actions that hold up as new use cases arrive
You are technical enough to write SQL, read a pipeline, and reason about APIs and integrations between systems like Salesforce, NetSuite, and Workday
You get context out of busy business users, question a requested solution without losing their trust, and scope an honest first version
You learn new systems fast and write down what you learn so the next person doesn't have to ask
You treat access rules as part of the product and understand row-level security and data classification
You build and ship apps yourself, at work or on the side, and AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Windsurf are part of how you work every day. You can stand up a React app that pulls from live data, in Foundry or anywhere else
Palantir Foundry experience strongly preferred, especially Ontology design: object types, link types, actions, and functions
Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions
